This game was a barn-burner & a great one. The win is huge win for Prep who controlled the game for the most part, but fought off a superb Westtown comeback. The game featured one great play after another, high IQ & intense basketball. We must commend Westttown on their effort & great team. The Washington, DC DMV is very proud of the national Win by the Little Hoyas. Westtown Head Coach Seth Berger & Georgetown Prep Head Coach Ryan Eskow & his great staff coached great games & must be mentioned.
Player of the Game : Jared Bynum, 5’10”, PG, 2017. Georgetown Prep. Committed to : St. Joseph
Jared played a beautiful game scoring 27 points on 9-15 shooting (3-3 3Pt FGS), dished out 7 assists, & finished with an amazing 0 turnovers in 31 minutes of play. This was one of the most impressive games I have seen a PG play. Jared made one clutch one after another, & got into the paint continuously against Wesstown’s 6’8″, 6’9″ and 6’7″ players making huge plays. He drilled 3 key 3s with his beautiful jumper off the dribble & on occasion utilized his superb step back. In the past year Jared has made great improvements to his game on all levels thru his hard work. Jared is in elite physical condition & he has an elite IQ. Jared will be a 2017/18 All Met Player. Last night dictated the tempo of the game a ran the Prep offense to perfection.
Offensive Player of the Game: Cameron Reddish 6’7″, PG/PointForwad, 2018. Westtown, Committed to Duke.
Cameron is rated @ # 3 in the nation for 2018 & he deserves it. He led a furious Westtown comeback hitting 2 off the chart 3 pointers in the rally. He scored 34 points on 12-23 overall FGs & 6-10 for 3. Cameron possesses a lethal crossover & can play on or off the ball. He showed tremendous scoring diversity scoring form all angles & levels. Cameron added 5 rebounds & 4 assists playing a game high 32 minutes. He converted some very nice powerful dunks & is an ultra competitor. Cameron is a star who could very be a 1 & done.
Defensive Player of the Game : Ike Nweke, 6’7″, PF, Georgetown Prep. :Committed to Columbia.
Ike is a true warrior & ferociously battled the boards with his non stop motor & power. He totaled 14 points & 8 rebounds. His activity in the paint was outstanding & Ike was big time disrupupter to Westtown by altering shots & wearing down Wesstown with his power. Ike is one of the strongest & toughest players in MD/DC & a true workhorse who can score 18 feet & in. Columbia is getting a steal. Ike will make one of our All Met teams this season & he is very underrated on the national level .
Best Overall: Jake Forrester, 6’9″ F, 2018. Westtown, Committed to Indiana.
Jake was a stock riser this past year & climbed to #147 nationally with potential to move up. He is a superb athlete who plays with a high motor & a good chip on his shoulder. He is very competitive & will mix it in the paint. Jake has a very high IQ & can pass very well. Tonight he scored 22 points on 10-15 shooting with 2 assists. We predict will have a great career at Inidiana & the Hoosiers got a steal.
Most Unsung : Dejean Deisre, 6’5″, G/F, Georgetown Prep, 2019.
Tonight Desire scored 8 points & grabbed 9 rebounds. He was a huge factor for Georgetown Prep. Frequently, Desire guarded Cam Reddish & did a very nice job, forcing him to make some miraculous scores. Desire was a superb ball mover & impacted the game with his high energy activity. He is very, very underrated but not by Prep Hoops
Best Floor General : Jared Bynum : Georgetown Prep
Jared played one of the best floor games we have seen this year. Once again Jared recorded 7 assists with0 turnovers. He displayed dominant & elite ball handling skills & facilitation skills.
Best Shooter : Cameron Reddish, Westtown.
Cameron call pull-up on a dime, off his crossover or catch & shoot to drain perimeter shots. He has superb shot mechanics & elevation with ability to knock down shots anywhere.
Best Underclassman : Noah Collier, 6’7″, SF, Westtown, 2020. Jalen Gaffney, 6’0″,PG, 2019. Westtown.
Noah grabbed 8 boards & scored 4 points on 2-2 shooting in 26 minutes.He has great upside & will breakout later this season or next. Jalen (pictured left) played very well scoring 17 points on 7-14 FGS & dished out 4 assists. He is on national radar @ #211 with offers from St.Johns & Binghampton. We believe his offers wilt increase in the near future.
Play of the Game: Cameron Reddish, Westtown.
In the last minute of the game Cameron hit 2 big 3 pointers, the latter an almost impossible conversion which few players could make, especially at legitimate 6’7″ plus.
Best off the Bench : Will Mulquin, 6’5″ WF/WG, 2018. Georgetown Prep.
Will scored 10 points off the bench which included 2 big pointers. Several times he went to the rim & converted thru heavy contact. He played a great floor game with 0 turnovers in 19 minutes. Will is a high energy & high IQ player with an excellent overall game. He will be an excellent college player.
Most Athletic: Mezie Offurum, 6’6″ Wing, 2018. Georgetown Prep. Committed to George Washington
Mezie shot 5-10, including 2 for 6 from 3. He was limited to 19 minutes due to foul trouble. Mezie threw down several high elevation tomahawk dunks. He is one of the best dunkers in the DMV, & a tremendous overall player. Mezie has the ability to stuff a stat sheet with a triple double. In the last 6 months Mezie had a breakout off season, yet he still has much more upside & he will get there. Mezie will be an excellent college player for George Washington University.
Most unsung Player #2: Kamdyn Curfman, Georgetown Prep
We must mention 6’01.2″, 2019 Georgetown Prep CG Kamdyn Curfman who hit 2 huge 3 pointers & played a superb overall game. He is a lethal shooter, plays with a High IQ & does not get intimidated. We are very impressed with Kamdyn who has the ability to score 20 points in a game.
