Recruiting Report: Christian Braun (2019)
Already with offers in tow from Missouri State and Loyola-Chicago, Blue Valley Northwest 6-foot-5 shooting guard Christian Baun has another big year ahead of him.
Missouri State was the most recent school to offer, and Loyola-Chicago was the first offer after a team camp.
He picked up both offers this past spring and summer, and the MOKAN EYBL product is seeing additional high-major interest come his way, too.
“Right now I’m seeing interest from Kansas State, Creighton and Colorado, those schools are the most interested, and I talk to them almost everyday,” said Braun.
“MOKAN helped a lot because of the EYBL circuit. I’ve been playing with them a long time and I’m looking forward to playing with them next year.”
While with MOKAN this past offseason, Braun says he worked to improve his shooting off the bounce, and ball-handling.
“Since the spring I’ve been trying to get stronger, and I’ve been trying to expand the game, and not just be a shooter but trying to score off the dribble more,” said Braun. “So, I’ve been handling the ball a lot more, and I’ll be playing some point guard this year.”
Now, with his junior season at Blue Valley Northwest underway, his focus is on leading, and getting back to state.
“My goals this season are to get our seniors the ball, scoring when I can, and just being a leader more. Because next year when our seniors are gone, I’ll be the leader,” said Braun.
“And then just win; just win a state championship. Because I think that’s the most important thing.”
As for his recruitment, he says there’s two things that matter most to him; a good fit, and being able to make an immediate impact.
“For recruitment, I’m not really looking for anything specific. I just want to go somewhere where I can fit in and make and impact for four years,” said Braun.
“And just somewhere where I like all the guys, like the coaches, and where I can get along with everybody. It can be high-major, mid-major, just somewhere where I can make an impact and fit in.”
