Recruiting Report: Trevon Cason (2019)
2019 Edgewater guard Trevon Cason has emerged early this season. He’s part of a gifted starting five.
His group finished 23-9 a year ago, ending up as the Class 7A state runner-up in a loss to Dillard. Cason called his sophomore campaign both fun and amazing.
“Playing with Anfernee Simons, he teaches you a lot and you can learn from his game. I learned most to be a leader.I learned to make the extra pass, it helps a lot in a basketball game,” Cason told Prep Hoops Florida. “I’m proud that we went to states last year, but fell up short in the championship game. It was a good experience in Lakeland.”
The 6’2″, 165-pounder didn’t play AAU ball this summer instead he was in the gym training and bettering his game. He did however run with the Orlando Orangemen in the spring.
No offers have come yet for the junior, but he’s drawn interest from Chicago and George Mason.
Cason said his dribbling and defense, especially his ability to generate steals improved last season. He also noticed that his decision making was better. He wants to make sure that he just plays basketball and doesn’t focus on the crowds as much.
A gifted young shooter, Cason has room to grow into his lengthy body and that will help increase his overall skill level. He is in a good spot at Edgewater where the coaches don’t mess around. Cason has the looks of a riser in the 2019 class.
