Prospect Watch: Eddie White Bear (2018)
Five-foot-9 point guard Eddie White Bear led Des Lacs-Burlington to a 17-8 record a year ago. His team lost a lot to graduation but Eddie still expects a big senior year.
White Bear is his team’s long time PG and his off-season work was about getting ready to be the mature leader of his team.
“This summer I played AAU with North Dakota Phenom,” White Bear said. “I made it to as many tournaments as possible. I also spent most of my time working out, working on basketball, lifting weights, and running to get ready for the upcoming season.”
White Bear feels his junior year was solid but things could have been better.
“My junior year could have been better but I used that as motivation to work harder,” Eddie said. “”My focus has been to build muscle, improve my endurance, and further develop my shooting ability.”
There will be a lot of new players in the line-up this winter but goals are still high at Des-Lacs Burlington.
“My individual goal this winter is to have the best season ever and earning a college scholarship as well as making it to state,” Eddie said.
“State is the ultimate goal for our team. Though we graduated four of our five starters, we have a lot of talent just waiting to prove themselves on the court. I am expecting that we are going to surprise a lot teams. I have no doubt that we will do big things.”
Eddie is not hearing from schools year but he feels it’s just a matter of time.
“So far I have not contacted any colleges, but I am definitely planning on playing college ball,” White Bear said. “I am 100 percent confident that I’m ready for that next level.”
