Life Christian vs. Steilacoom Sentinels
On 12/2/2017 The Life Christian Academy Eagles put on a display of ball movement and a fast break clinic. Winning in convincing fashion against the Steilacoom Sentinels 58-49. This eagles team is for REAL!!! With the loss of one of the greatest players in school history Luke Lovelady who went on to play basketball at Point Loma University. There are some secret weapons that have been unleashed, which I think is safe to say they aren’t secret anymore. Lets take a look at some players who made a HUGE impact in this game and look to keep there names on the radar.
Life Christian Academy Eagles:
Freshman Guard Omari Maulana is a nightmare in the open court. During this game he finished with 7 points but had some good transition plays he made for his teammates. This young man is a force to be reckoned with. His overall stats should increase as the season goes on and he will play a major role in the success of the team. With a quick first step and blow by speed. He is a handful for any defender. In this particular game on many occasions he was able to snatch the rebound and beat the whole the team down the floor. His work ethic is ELITE!!!
Junior Forward Noah Robinson has been consistently showing that his game has gone to another level. He stands at 6’4 but he plays a lot bigger. He has a wide body frame and can move people around down low. He finished with 11 points and 5 rebounds in this game but his playmaking on the block was what caught my eye. He has a great sense of when the double team comes and where the next pass should go. He had some key rebounds and key baskets down the stretch.
Senior Guard Eric Overgaard had 9 points and 3 rebound along with 4 steals. Defensively he caused a lot of issues for the sentinel guards. He is 6’3 but has a longer reach than most his height. He is able to disrupt the defense in any set. Whether it be zone or man you can’t through a lazy pass or it will get picked off by Eric. In this game he hit some big 3 pointers which shows he isn’t scared to take big shots. With this being his senior year. The eagles have a good shot of making down state again this year.
Steilacoom Sentinels:
Junior Wing Jaymason Willingham is just cracking the height of six-foot-even, but Jaymason made a strong statement to the competition letting them know that he’ll be a hard cover, this season. Especially on the defensive end, where he shows heart and grit. This is what you want out of your guard play: someone who can rise above the masses, snag the rock, and push the break. Jaymason does that very well.
Junior Post Chris Hines gave his squad a ton of hustle off the free throw miss to snag rebounds on both sides of the court. This is a guy you want on the floor if you’re down and you have to put your “energy” lineup in. He’s going to the glass with 100% effort. Loved watching him work!
