Top 10 Games of the Week
This week will be the Top 10 games that are not involved in tournaments. Even with the limited games because of the tournaments, there are some very enticing matchups across the state. The tournaments also will have some big-time matchups throughout the state but with the unpredictability of tournaments we leave them out as a whole.
- 4A #2 Douglass vs 3A #3 Centennial
In a rematch from the Class 3A State Final last year, Douglass takes on Centennial in a Top 5 matchup that promises fireworks. While the teams will not play each other in another state final because of reclassification this year, this crosstown rivalry still means a lot to both teams. Douglass got the edge in the last matchup. Can Centennial pull off the win? We will have to wait and see.
- 6A #4 Midwest City vs 5A #7 Del City
In the early season, Del City has picked up two losses against some really good teams. They have lost by a combined four points over the two games and will look to rebound against a really good Midwest City team. Midwest City opened the season with what might have easily been the game of the year with a triple-overtime victory against Putnam City. Midwest City also has another victory over a top 20 this season. This matchup should be a good one in Bomber country.
- 4A #9 Heritage Hall vs 4A #8 Ada
Ada has yet to play a game this season and will open the season with a Top 10 Matchup against a good Heritage Hall team. Heritage Hall has lost two games this season to top opponents and will look to get back in the win column against Ada. This game will be a close one.
- 5A #4 Eisenhower @ 5A #13 Bishop McGuinness
Bishop McGuinness has had a rough start to the season with two tough losses to some good Putnam City and Putnam City North squads. Eisenhower started the season strong with a huge win over a Top 5 team in Del City. Eisenhower proved they will be a team to beat in Class 5A this season.
- 6A #5 Union vs 6A #15 Muskogee
In what is the first game for both of these squads, Muskogee travels to Union. Both of these teams have talent and this game will be a good test to see how far along these teams are. Union will look to prove they are still the team to beat in Class 6A after graduating a ton of talent. Muskogee is an interesting team this year and they will look to prove that they are underrated by most as they take on this tough Union squad.
- 6A #6 Norman North @ 6A #14 Stillwater
Many thought that Norman North would fall off after they lost Trae Young, but they have started the season strong with two wins and one over a Top 10 opponent. Stillwater will be looking to bounce back after two losses to Top 20 opponents in their first two games of the season.
- 4A #6 Anadarko vs 4A #11 Elgin
Elgin was the shock team trying to make the slipper fit last season as they made it to state in Class 4A. Now they are back and people are respecting them early. They will not be shocking anyone this year and face a tough Anadarko team on the road in an early season Top 15 Matchup. Anadarko is in familiar territory as they always seemed to be ranked highly. They will look to have a big win against a top opponent to open their season.
- 5A #3 Carl Albert vs 5A #16 Piedmont
In a Top 20 class 5A Matchup, Mason Harrell will look to go off. Harrell had ridiculous numbers last week with 39 points and 12 assists in their home opener last week. Harrell is the top unsigned prospect in the state and will hope to have a big game against Piedmont. Piedmont will look to pull the upset as they try to shut down the red-hot Harrell. Piedmont already has a tough loss to a Top 10 team in the state this season and will be looking to put that behind them.
- 6A #10 Sand Springs @ 6A #19 Sapulpa
Sapulpa looks to be the team that everyone overlooked at the beginning of the season. They have some talent and could show that they are underrated by most as they take on a good Sand Springs team. Sand Springs will hope to continue their winning ways as they started the season 2-0.
- 4A #16 Seminole vs 2A #3 Wewoka
Wewoka has shown that they are not afraid to take on top teams throughout the state as they have already played two Top 20 Matchups. Wewoka rebounded from a loss to Okmulgee last week and will hope to continue their winning ways against a good Seminole team. Seminole have started the season 2-0 with two blowout wins. They will look to show their worth against a great opponent in Wewoka.
