Iowa’s Player of the Week Poll (1)
Cole Henry
6’9 F, Oskaloosa, 2019
In a win over Knoxville on Saturday, Cole Henry notched his first of what could be several triple doubles this season. Through three games, the Division I prospect is averaging 17.3 points on 54 percent, 11.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists.
Trey Hutcheson
6’5 G/F, Linn-Mar, 2019
We predicted a big season for the smooth sharpshooter, and that’s certainly been ringing true thus far. He opened the season with a 32 point outburst in a win over Kennedy, then he rained in 22 points in just three quarters in another W against Bettendorf.
Garrett Sturtz
6’3 PG, Newton, 2018
Predictably, this unsigned Newton Cardinals superstar is off to a blistering start to his season. In two wins last week, he averaged 36.5 points on 51 percent shooting, 5.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 9.0 rebounds. Amazingly, he shot 30 free-throws in those two games, making 24 of them. He scored 44 in a win over Indianola Friday night.
Cade Daugherty
6′ G, Bellevue, 2018
After showing out time and time again this past offseason, it comes as no surprise that this senior’s season is off to a red-hot start. Bellevue is yet to get in the win column, but to not fault of Daugherty; he’s averaging 28 points on 56 percent shooting, 4.5 assists and 7.0 rebounds so far.
Grant DeMeulanaere
5’11 PG, Grand View Christian, 2018
Grand View Christian won a 1A state title last season, and it looks like they could be considered early favorites to do so again. Through four games last week, all wins, their senior floor general averaged 27 points on 54 percent shooting, 6.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game.
JD Stout
6′ G/F, Keota, 2020
The Keota Eagles are are off to a hot start, they’ve won their first three games to start the season, and sophomore JD Stout has blossomed into a superstar in the process.
