Top Unsigned Class of 2018 prospects: BPA
Charlie Cochrane: 6-foot-5 sharpshooter morphed into the mad bomber on the grandest of stages. Cochrane, out of Louisville, Ky., shot a scalding 6-for-8 from beyond the arc for 31 points in BPA’s signature win over Montverde Academy in Atlanta.
A year after averaging 24 points and 16 boards as a high school senior, Cochrane is a catch-and-stick threat who will play a key supplementary scorer under former Winthrop star Tyson Waterman this season. Cochrane has interest from Dartmouth but continues to fly under the radar on the recruiting market.
Remy Robert: Hard-working 6-foot-2 guard can knock down perimeter shots and thrives with straight-away 3-point shooting ability. Should reap the rewards of an additional prep year, after an injury-plagued senior year in Louisiana. Brings a spot-up presence and another layer of scoring for BPA’s main post-graduate team.
Isaiah Sulak: Sharpshooting 6-foot-5 guard enters post-graduate season as a prolific scorer who went for 25+ countless times last season. Sulak brings an all around feel for the game and should offer immediate contributions after suffering a brutal leg injury which shelved him for much of the pre-season. Northern Kentucky, Tennessee Tech, and other mid-majors are intrigued by Sulak, who most pack muscle onto his spindly 165-pound frame this season.
Dexter Dennis: Hard-driving 6-foot-5 guard brings monstrous above the rim game and high-level athleticism. Waterman and company have had Dennis pegged as a high-major caliber recruit since he arrived at the doorstep in August. Active on defense and a vastly improved knockdown threat, Dennis has offers from Charleston Southern, UNC Asheville, IUPUI, Nicholls State, and several others. A key factor propelling Dennis’ game is his spurtability. He has the type of scoring acumen and ability to instigate turnovers and quickly convert them into transition leak-outs. This typically helps him spark runs and reel off points in bunches.
Ty Patterson: 6-foot-5 guard has all-around scoring ability and plays with a sense of urgency and focus. As evidenced by three consecutive 3-pointers during a hot handed sequence at Swanny’s Roundball in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Patterson can be a key source in the perimeter attack. May not pass the eye test, but Patterson has the integral ingredients of a Division-I player. Coaches canvass him as a MEAC style recruit.
Jared Grubb: Well-built 6-foot-1 guard has an adeptness at scoring from all three levels. Also possesses above average IQ and sees the floor well, an attribute which makes him an ideal prospect at point guard. London, KY native also has the strength, size, and skill-set to transition to the ensuing level of play with ease. Under the radar Division-1 prospect with wealth of upside.
Prince Aurosike: Physical 6-foot-9, 235-pound Center has natural rebounding ability and subscribes to high day-to-day work rate. Still evolving as a scorer, though he’s displayed high efficiency scoring aptitude. IUPUI has offered while several mid-majors are expressing interest.
Kymani Dunham: Massive 6-foot-9, 280-pound forward has soft hands, footwork, and a still evolving back to the basket game. Averaged 15 points, 10 boards, and five blocks as a junior at Brunswick High School (Ga.). As a senior, Dunham was a central piece in leading Brunswick to a berth in the 6A Georgia state championship game.
Damon Tobler: Transfer via Montverde Academy brings toughness and a knack for barreling to the rim. Bullish 6-foot-5 lefty has dependable 20-foot jumper and versatile skill-set to play and guard multiple positions. Has offers from Winthrop, Nicholls State and several others on the table. Kansas State is also intrigued.
Bryson Langdon: Quick, witty 5-foot-11 guard from Chicago is crafty finisher with knack for getting into the teeth of defenses. Has thrived with the downhill game and reeling off points in a hurry. Kent State has offered.
