All 5th Region Team Predictions
As the the Kentucky High School season gets underway this week, Prep Hoops Kentucky makes some All-Region Team predictions. Here, we take a look at the 5th Region:
All 5th Region Team Predictions:
- Darius Harding, Elizabethtown / 6’3 wing / 2018
Harding averaged 17.8 points and 6 rebounds as a junior last season. Schools showing interest in him include Kentucky Wesleyan, Georgetown College, Asbury University, Midway University, and the University of Rochester.
- Zion Harmon, Adair County / 5’11 point guard / 2021
Harmon is considered to be one of, if not the top, rated point guard in the 2021 class. He will be attending Adair County High School for his freshman season after transferring from state championship winner Bowling Green. This summer saw Harmon tear it up on the Nike EYBL circuit with Boo Williams, as well as participating with Team USA U16 during the FIBA championships. Harmon averaged just under 17 pointer per game as an 8th grader last season.
- Mickey Pearson, John Hardin / 6’7 foward / 2018
Pearson has committed to play at St. Louis in the A-10 and is considered one of the top players in Kentucky. He had a great summer playing with Twenty Two Vision in the Adidas Gold Gauntlet circuit. As a junior last season, Pearson averaged 22.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
- TreVon Smith, Taylor County / 6’3 guard/ (2019)
Smith already holds an offer from Morehead State and only figures to garner more interest as time goes on. As a sophomore, Smith averaged 17 points and and 5 rebounds per game while helping lead Taylor County to yet another state tournament appearance.
- Mark Goode, LaRue County / forward/center / (2020)
Keep an eye on Mark Goode. The freshman big man led the Hawks in scoring last season, averaging just over 14 points per game. He also averaged just over 6 rebounds per game. Even more impressive he shot nearly 70% from the field. LaRue won 26 games and a 18th District championship last year.
Keep An Eye On:
- Anthony Adkins, LaRue County / 6’5 power forward / 2019
Adkins is a 6’5 forward with a ton of upside. Another young piece to the LaRue County program, Adkins hopes to help guide the Hawks to a state tournament appearance before his high school career is over.
- Tyler Durbin, Elizabethtown /5’11 guard / 2018
Durbin averaged just under 16 points a game last season and in any othe region would be a no brainier 1st Team All-Region player. Durbin is light’s out from 3-point range.
- Jacob Hobbs, Central Hardin / 6’8 forward / 2019
Hobbs could potentially be a double-double machine this year if he wants to be. He averaged just under 10 points and 7 rebounds per game last season as a sophomore.
- JJ Traynor, Bardstown / forward / 2020
Coach James Brewer will have an all new starting line-up this year, and possibly his youngest team ever. But sophomore guard JJ Traynor is one that could take off this season for the Tigers. Long and athletic, Traynor has only scratched the surface of his potential.
