All 3rd Region Team Predictions
As the the Kentucky High School season gets underway next week, Prep Hoops Kentucky makes some All-Region Team predictions. Here, we take a look at the 3rd Region:
All 3rd Region Team Predictions:
- Blake Boswell, Daviess County (2018, guard)
Boswell averaged just over 14 points and 3 rebounds per game as a junior last season. He helped lead Daviess County to both district and regional championships, so it’s clear what goals he may have going into his senior year. Last season the Panthers finished at 21-13.
- Luke Hayden , Owensboro Catholic (2018, guard)
Hayden helped lead Catholic to a 22-11 overall record last season, averaging 14.3 points and 5 rebounds per game. He shot just below 45% from the field (36% from 3-point range). Expect the Aces to contend for a regional championship this season.
- John Marshall, Owensboro Catholic (2018, forward)
Marshall has been considered by many to be much improved since last season. At 6’7, Marshall averaged 10.9 points per game and 7 rebounds per game. He also shot over 55% from the field.
- Nathan Boyle, Apollo (2018, guard)
Boyle will pick up some slack left by 20 points per game scorer Zach Hopewell, who graduated last school year. Nathan averaged 13.1 points and 4 rebounds as a junior.
- Cory Gardner, Owensboro (2018, guard)
Owensboro will look to get back on top of the 3rd Region, and the hope is that Gardner can help in the process. Last season the Red Devils struggled, finishing the season at 13-15. Gardner averaged 14.3 points and 3 rebounds shooting right at 50% from the field as a junior.
Keep An Eye On:
- Aiden Matthews, Meade County (2018, forward)
Matthews was a junior on last year’s state tournament team, averaging 10.3 points and 6 rebounds per game. Aiden scored 13 points in the Green Waves regional championship victory over Daviess County. At 6’4, Matthews has good size to make him a small college prospect. Could be a breakout season for him.
- Jay Owen, Daviess County (2018, guard)
Playing alongside Boswell will give Daviess County an opportunity to contend for a regional championship. As stated previously, the Panthers fell just short last season, losing out to Meade County. Owen averaged just over 11.1 points per game. On 164 attempts, Owen shot just under 40% from 3-point range.
- Deonte Douglas, Owensboro (2018, guard)
Averaged 10.4 points and 3 rebounds as a junior last season. Douglas can play two-three different positions for the Red Devils.
