Ryse Williams Pac Shores Tournament: 2020/2021 Standouts
Francisco’s Finest: 2020/2021 Standouts
Josh Christopher (Mayfair)
2020, SG, 6-foot-5, 195 pounds
Joel’s Take: There isn’t a more talented scoring guard in the West, regardless of class. He can nail 3s in transition, finish with authority through contact, and he can deliver some nifty dimes to open teammates. He needs to learn what a good shot is at times and learn the concept of “time and score”, but overall he is a promising talent.
Ryan Evans (Santa Margarita)
2020, SG, 6-foot-2, 175 pounds
Joel’s Take: Evans is a strong shooting guard with a textbook jump shot. He is at his best shooting off the catch, be he can also hit mid-range pull-ups. In transition he shows an improved handle and he usually makes the right decision. Going forward he needs to improve his initial burst off the dribble and finishing ability in the paint.
Justin Ebor (Oak Park)
2021, WF, 6-foot-6, 170 pounds
Joel’s Take: Ebor is just scratching the surface of his potential. He has that prototypical long and lean frame and he is a good athlete. He utilizes the pump fake to get to the rim and he shows good instincts in the paint area. Continuing to hone his inside-out skills will take his game to another level.
Jaren Johnson (Gahr)
2020, SG, 6-foot-2, 160 pounds
Joel’s Take: Johnson has a nice frame with good length and he plays with confidence and poise for being so young. His release needs to quicken on his shot, but he does show nice rotation and he has range on his shot. He gets steals in the passing lanes and is an astute passer. If he works hard on his ball skills against pressure and continues to add to his offensive game, he has a chance to play somewhere on the next level.
Jaren Harris (Windward)
2021, PG, 5-foot-11, 150 pounds
Joel’s Take: Long arms, ideal athleticism, and a calm demeanor describes this up-and coming point guard prospect. He pushes the ball well in transition and can hit open shots. He handed out a few impressive (fundamental) passes into the post as well. Will definitely be on the radar heading forward.
