Glover Catches Fire
Reese Glover incinerated the Stratford Spartans Tuesday night, torching the nets for 28 first-half points.
It started innocently enough with turnaround jumpers from the baseline. Franklin Head Coach Darrin Joines planted his smallest player on the low blocks because Stratford too ran out shorter guards.
Reese Glover dominated as a makeshift low post threat. He had 15 points 10 minutes in, Stratford had just 12 total. Franklin concocted a diabolical gameplan of posting up their shortest player on Stratford’s undersized guards. Though Ivan Buford (Stratford) bodied up proudly he simply couldn’t get near Glover’s sharp turnaround jumper.
In the second quarter, Glover returned to his natural habitat, the three-point arc. He buried triple after triple after triple after triple after triple. The junior Glover hit five three-pointers in the second quarter alone. It felt like he was going to kiss the net every time down for several successive possessions.
Glover’s elevation helped him get a good look at the rim despite his diminutive stature. His form replicated on each release. Glover’s fearless shooting expanded an unlikely 15-point lead for the hosting Rebels.
