Ten Reasons to be excited for the 2017-18 season: Under-the-radar players will shine bright
The 2017-2018 season looks to be one of the more interesting seasons in a while. Some elite talent has either graduated or left the state which created a huge vacuum for other teams and players to try and fill. Therefore, there are many reasons to be pumped for this season.
In this series, we will spotlight the ten reasons to be excited about the 2017-18 season.
Under-the-radar players will shine brightly
Oklahoma has a ton of players in the 2018 class who have fallen under-the-radar but this season they will shine on a big stage.
Layton Hartloff is a versatile offensive forward who will try to build off of a breakout season for him and his Claremore Zebras. Kamden Gipson is a guard who will try to make a consistent impact on his talented Edmond Santa Fe Wolves.
Carson Calavan of Fort Gibson is a great shooter and point guard who has fallen under the radar. Micah McQuarters of Tulsa Union may end up being the best-underrated player in this class with his shooting ability and potential to play point guard.
Josh Rivers of Midwest City will have a bigger responsibility this year but he is prepared for the bigger spotlight.
Brock Schreiner leads a tough Choctaw team with his witty point guard play and willingness to compete against anybody. Trent Smith is a wing who goes under the radar at Latta but he is a high-ceiling prospect who will be a better college player than he is in high school.
Jackson Dyer of Westmoore had solid summer and showed greater ability to score down low. Dyer is also a great rebounder who will be the protector of the paint for the Jaguars.
Finally, Brooks Haddock is the best shooter in this class and he will be a hot commodity for college coaches as the year progresses.
