5 Things We Learned From The Village Christian vs Fayetteville Academy Matchup!
Fayetteville Academy & Village Christian met up on Friday afternoon for a matchup they even caught me off guard, the game began at 4:30 due to the football team having a state tournament game at 6pm. However despite the minor confusion the game was packed and the competition between these two teams was outstanding, here are 5 things we learned from this matchup.
- Fayetteville Academy 2019 Wing William Oyenodi is a D1 prospect: William has been a player that we have watched over the last few years, his talent to play on the next level was clear but his position and exactly what level was somewhat of a question mark. Well he has slowly but surely showed that he can be a D1 wing, his jump shot is much improved and he has shown the ability to defend other wings.
- Village Christian 2019 Guard Travion McCray is a hooper! Travion is new to the area and to the state, he comes from SC where he has played alongside some very gifted players. Now that Village Christian has lost their starting backcourt of last year to graduation and transfers, he has stepped up to be a huge part of the offense and should see a rise in his recruitment.
- Village Christian 2019 Guard Ahmod Baker is making a name for himself: Ahmod spent last year played sparingly off the bench for Terry Sanford HS. He made the decision to transfer to Village Christian and the move has paid off for him in a great way, he is scoring the ball at a nice rate and is playing with a higher amount of talent.
- Fayetteville Academy Emmanuel Izunabor & FiiFI Quanseh are two 2019s that colleges need to be on: These big men went to battle with each other on Saturday , both are still developing but there is no doubt that MM+ programs should be interested and Low Major programs should be offering.
- Fayetteville Academy Guard EJ Bethea & Village Christian Guard Carter Morgan can both shoot the ball well: They both knocked down some big time shots for their squad, they knocked down buckets at clutch moments to help get their team over the hump in clutch moments.
