Prep Hoops SC took the 4 hour journey to the Upstate on Saturday to watch the action at the Pete Hollis Classic in Greenville, SC. Legacy Early College hosted the the 2 day event.
Charlotte Basketball Academy 68 Covenant Christian (Marietta, GA) 65
Charlotte Basketball Academy was down most of the game until going on a 9-0 run at the 6:04 mark of the 2nd half to 62-59 lead. Don Austin (2018) was the key in this run for CBA with back to back three pointers along with a bucket and a free throw. Austin a guard from Windsor, CT was called onto defend guard Iverson Molinar (2018). Molinar went silent after scoring 16 points in the first half.
Austin scored the last 13 points in the game to finish the night with 22 points. Austin was a 2-time All-State performer in Connecticut.
Molinar coming off a 30 point performance on opening night for Covenant Christian Academy finished the night with 21 points. Molinar a native of Panama played last season in Las Vegas, NV at Trinity Internationa and spent some time at Oaks Christian (CA). Molinar speaks very fluent English and has received recruiting interest from Pacific.
Jose David Pena 6’2 took high honors with 24 points. Pena (2018) hails from the Dominican Republic. Pena seemed to be in the dog house all day long for Head Coach Pastor Frederick Anderson. Pena at times got a bit too fancy with the ball.
John Eze 6’9 is a raw project in the post for Covenant Christian Academy. Eze is very limited in the game of basketball.
Dylan Price (2018) added 11 points and newcomer Shamel Jones (2021) chipped in 6 points for CBA. Price comes from Windsor, Ontario Canada while Jones recently arrived from Connecticut. Jones brought good energy to the floor and plays strictly around the basket for his young age.
Price 6’4 connected on some floaters in the lane and has the ability to score the ball from all 3 levels on the floor.
