Holiday Hoopsgiving Preview Pt. 1
The Holiday Hoopsgiving Event has always been filled with top talent and each year it grows bigger and bigger. This season’s event is more loaded this last season, featuring some of the top players in the southeast. Here are just a few key matchups to be on the look out for while your at this year’s Holiday Hoopsgiving Event.
Wesleyan Christian, NC vs Gainesville, GA – Friday Nov. 24th 3:15pm Gym 1
The Trojans of Wesleyan Christian will face one of Georgia’s elite programs in the Gainesville Red Elephants. The Trojans are coming into this event with a few high major athletes headlining their roster. The main standout will be 2018 6’6 WG and Maryland commit Aaron Wiggins. Wiggins is one of the top players in the country according to ESPN. Wake Forest commit Jaylen Hoard will also be a kid bringing the juice and his talents to Atlanta. Middle Tennessee commit KJ Buffen for Gainesville will definitely be a standout in this event. Buffen has the skills and physicality to get to the basket and we are in for a great matchup between him and Wiggins.
Mountain Brook, AL vs Norcross, GA – Friday Nov. 24th 5:00pm Gym 1
The Norcross Blue Devils might have the best scoring offense in the state of Georgia. Norcross will be facing one of Alabama’s best programs featuring 2019 F Trendon Watford. Watford is a force in the paint and can also hit his shots outside the paint. The Spartans will also have some help from 2018 SG Britton Johnson and CG Sean Elmore. 2019 CG Kyle Sturvidant and 2018 PG Dalvin White run the Norcross backcourt this year. Sturvidant as you all know is a real high volume scorer, he is able to create his own shot and also finish at the rack. Dalvin can facilitate and can also get hot from three at any point in the game. Adding 2020 WG Brandon Boston just adds to the case that Norcross has the best scoring offense in the state of Georgia. Boston is a big time player and has a very high IQ for a sophomore. Sturdivant of Norcross and Watford of Mountain Brook both ran with Nike Team Florida this pass summer on the Nike EYBL Circuit.
Westside Macon, GA vs Montverde, FL – Saturday Nov. 25th 2:45pm Gym 1
Westide Macon features a kid named Khavon Moore. Moore is a 6’8 combo forward and one of the top players in the country. Khavon will try to lead his Seminoles squad against arguably the number one team in the nation in Montverde Academy. Moore will have some assists with the help from 6’6 senior Greg Holloway and 2019 PG Desmon Foston. Montverde has always been known for their star talent but this season they feature the number one player in the nation in 2018 WG and Duke commit RJ Barrett. Moore and Barrett are two forwards with the same skills sets and should be a fun matchup to watch. 6’3 PG and Georgia Tech commit Mike Devoe and 6’3 PG and Florida commit Andrew Nambhard will be a couple guards to keep an eye on in this one for Montverde going up against the tough guard play of Westside Macon.
