Hoops & Dreams Showcase Recap: Oak Hill Academy
Senior Center David McCormack: The 6’10 youngster was a beast inside the paint, he doesn’t get moved easily and is very comfortable scoring with his back to the basket. His play will be huge for the squad since he is one of only a few bigs that they have, has good hands and nice upside.
Junior Forward BJ Mack: BJ is still working to get comfortable in the offense at Oak Hill but does have very nice potential, he can step out and shoot it when he’s in certain pick and roll situations. He’s continuing to progress in changing his body and will be one to keep an eye on over the next two years.
Senior Wing Keyonte Johnson: The 6’5 wing but on an absolute show with his athleticism and dunks that made the crowd leave its seats all weekend. He bring a gritty style to the court on the defensive end but offensively he has a nice amount of flair to his game and should have a big time season.
Sophomore Josh Hemmings: It’s hard to believe that he’s only a sophomore with his type of skillset, and being in a program like Oak Hill, we know he is only going to get better with time. At 6’7 he can stretch the floor by knocking down the trey ball and can also defend multiple positions.
Senior Guard Keldon Johnson: He recently committed to The University of Kentucky, and if you had a chance to watch him during the Hoops and Dreams Showcase, I’m sure you would see why Coach Calipari wanted him so badly. He highly skilled, with a nice IQ for the game, athletic, and a tremendous shooter from deep especially off the catch. He will be a huge part of why Oak Hill will be a national contender once again this season.
