Kansas’ Top point guards (2018)
Top point guards (2018)
Mason Alexander, 6’0, PG, 2018, McPherson
A smooth left handed point guard, Alexander is tough off the dribble, gets to the basket and is a terrific leader at the point. He has put together a strong career at McPherson and is poised for a big senior season.
Nate Awbrey, 6’1, PG, 2018, Manhattan
Awbrey has flown under the radar somewhat as he has played behind 2017 PG standout Trevor Hudgins, but he is poised for a breakout season as Manhattan loses a lot from a year ago to graduation. He is a solid ball handler and an excellent perimeter shooter.
Jett Canfield, 5’11, PG, 2018, Topeka Hayden
After battling injury throughout the offseason, Canfield is gearing up for a big senior season with Topeka Hayden, one of the state’s most talented teams. He is a crafty ball handler with terrific court vision and has the ability to consistently knock down outside shots.
Jeremiah Garrett, 5’11, PG, 2018 Bishop Miege
Garrett is a tough, no nonsense competitor who makes his teammates better. He is a good leader, plays a pass-first type game, but can get to the bucket and free throw line when needed.
Garret Luinstra, 6’1, PG, 2018, Free State
Luinstra has risen up the charts in Kansas over the past year after a solid junior season and is among the state’s better all-around players. He is a good ball handler and creator off the bounce, gets in the lane and makes plays. He is a knock down 3-point shooter and also has a nice mid-range game as well.
Ronnell Mitchell, 5’7, PG, 2018, Schlagle
A diminutive PG, Mitchell brings speed, quickness and the ability to get to the basket to Schlagle. His play that helped lead the Stallions to the Kansas 5A state championships in Topeka a year ago. He not only brings the ability to break down a defense and create for himself and others, but is a good leader at the PG position as well.
Andrew Nussbaum, 5’11, PG, 2018, St. Thomas Aquinas
Like Awbrey at Manhattan, Nussbaum took a back seat to a large group of talented seniors a year ago, but appears poised for a breakout season for Aquinas. He is a good ballhandler with good speed and quickness, can shoot from the outside and is a good finisher in traffic. Look for him to be a leader for Aquinas this season.
