2020 Illinois Post Stock Risers
There isn’t a dominant post player in the 2020 class, but the depth that continues to emerge is impressive. Let’s look at the big men that have taken the biggest jump up in the latest 2020 rankings.
C Nate Seputis (Lincoln Way East)
Previous Ranking: #31
Current Ranking: #11
Seputis was a prospect that emerged on our radar in the spring with Team RWA and then took it to another level with his play at the PrepHoops Top 250 Expo. The 6’9” post showed he can score on the block with both hands, hit a mid-range jumper, rebound at a high rate, and protect the rim. Lots of upside here with Seputis.
C Martice Mitchell (Bloom)
Previous Ranking: #20
Current Ranking: #14
Mitchell has great size and length at 6’8”. The potential has always been there and he still hasn’t fully realized it yet, but we liked the aggression and mean streak that he showed in the fall. Runs the floor well and has major skill potential including stretching his shot out to beyond the arc.
C Yves Nkomba (LaSallette Academy)
Previous Ranking: #37
Current Ranking: #16
Nkomba is a legit 6’9” already and could grow several more inches. Long arms and good athleticism for the central Illinois big man. Runs the floor well, rebounds at a high rate, and is a big time shot blocker. Flashes a soft touch and mid-range jumper on offense. Still room to go there.
C Brandon Lieb (Deerfield)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #26
Lieb shined at the PrepHoops Top 250 Expo with his play. Skilled five man that can score on the block with his back to the basket very efficiently. Fluid athlete that moves well and high points rebounds. D1 potential for sure.
PF Aaron Tims (Hinsdale South)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #39
Tims is a combo forward at 6’7” that is pretty thin and will definitely need to add strength going forward, but he does a lot of little things that stand out. Quality rebounder and shot blocking presence defensively. Can put it on the deck occasionally although his handles could get tighter. Upside here!
PF Romelle Howard (Lincoln Park)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #45
The physical 6’6” power forward snatches rebounds in traffic consistently. He plays with a lot of force and has a high running motor all the time. Runs the floor very well. Offensively he flashes a lefty hook shot on occasion. Most of his points come on put backs. Really like the toughness he brings on the boards and defensively. Put himself on radar at Pangos Camp.
PF Tremear Fraley (Bogan)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #46
Fraley is a 6’8” big man with legit size and strength on the interior. Knows how to use his strength around the hoop playing physical and getting on the offensive glass for put backs. Nimble footwork and moves well around the hoop. Fraley is a big man that could emerge this season at Bogan.
