2019 Southwest Michigan Guards Ready To Shine
Michigan has multiple metro areas that consistently produce top notch basketball talent. Southwest Michigan is no different. This area of the state has two guards in the class of 2019 that should garner special attention. More fans and college coaches need to read about and see Zach Goodline and Dylan Jergens.
Dylan Jergens (2019, G, Howardsville Christian)
Jergens is a high IQ player who has been around the game for a long time. He can handle the ball and can torch the nets. Jergens has unlimited range and is a weapon from behind the arc. He can be counted on to hit big free throws as well. He’s currently working out in order to get thicker and stronger, and is improving his ability to create space. Jergens led Howardsville Christian to District Championship his freshman year and he has already eclipsed the 1000 point mark. This summer he played AAU basketball for Coach Eubank, who he credits for dramatic improvements in his game. Jergens is coming off a high school season in which he averaged 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Needless to say his expectations are high. He hopes to lead his team to a District and Regional Championship. Jergens is a class act kid who is motivated God and his family. It’s important to him that he represents them well. Dylan Jergens will bring a lights out shooter with a passion for the game and a positive attitude to a college program someday.
Zach Goodline (2019, G, Coloma High School)
Goodline is a shooter. In fact, one of the best in the state of Michigan. He is exceptional with the ball and has the court vision to match. This makes him dangerous as a scorer and as a distributor. Goodline is working to improve his athleticism. This season he has his eye on being a 50/40/90 (50% FG, 40% 3 point, 90% free throw) player. He wants to lead his team to a conference title and 15 or more wins. This spring and summer Goodline was hard at work. He put up shots whenever the opportunity arose and played AAU basketball where he matched up against high level comepetition. He stayed busy in the weight room as well. Goodline is a big game player, so he is looking forward to playing against Benton Harbor this season. He was recently invited to a University of Michigan practice and football game and has also taken a visit to Ferris State. Goodline has the goal of being able to pay for his education through basketball. He is very focused on grades and is an excellent student. Goodline has the ability to motivate himself and expects to be great in the classroom and on the court. Zach Goodline quite simply wants to go to college and play the game he loves. In time, a coach at the next level will be getting one of Michigan’s top shooters and an intense competitor who expects success.
