Sizing up some of the top tweeners in Northeast Ohio
Northeast Ohio is loaded with talented players who measure out at 6’5 to 6’7”. They are better known as tweeners and man can they play.
It can be difficult to project where these guys will play at the next level, but they dominate when matched up against their prep peers.
Here then is a list of some of the top tweeners in Northeast Ohio.
Christian Guess (2018) Shaker Heights. This guy is an absolute warrior who can go to the basket, defend and shows no fear on the floor. James Madison has shown interest in the 6’5” guard, who was all-district as a junior and has all landed on the radars of other mid-major programs.
R.J. Sunahara (2018) Bay, versatile, long and can finish around the rim. Has the ability to put the ball on the floor and find the open man. His high school coach said he’s an absolute gym rat. Teamed up with Pete Nance of Revere to do damage on the AAU trail. He’s already verbally committed to Fairmont State.
Omari Peek (2018), Strongsville. This guy showed out at a coach’s showcase in October. Has all the tools to dominate. His father played in the NFL and he was an AAU teammate of Ohio’s top player Darius Bazley. He’s going to put up some numbers this year.
Dorian Crutcher, Elyria Catholic. One recruiting site calls him the silent assassin. At 6’3” he makes plays on both sides of the floor. His showdowns with Holy Name’s Dwayne Cohill this winter will be must-see affairs.
Nigel Martin (2019). He averaged 21 points and seven rebounds a game as a sophomore for John Hay. A versatile offensive performer, the 6’5” Martin likes to slash to the basket but also has the playmaking abilities to play point guard.
Justin Koepp (2018), a 6’7’ post player for Elyria, he can run the floor and finish, and also create his own shot off the dribble. Should average a double-double. Played really well in a tournament game last winter against Lorain, which had 6’6″ Naz Bohannon, who was all-state and is now playing at Youngstown State.
