Palmetto State : Region 6-A Predictions
High School Basketball practice has officially started here in the Palmetto State this week. Some teams will get a late start especially with the football playoffs beginning this weekend. Prep Hoops SC takes a look at the Top 6 Players in the Region and our season projections.
Region 6-A Preseason Team (6 players)
Darius Taylor (2019) – Hemingway HS (pictured on front)
Taylor has been a start since his freshman season for the Tigers. Hemingway won the Class A State Championship last season and the Tigers won’t look to letup. Taylor a point guard averaged 10 ppg and 5 assists last season.
Taylor averaged 11.7 ppg and 4.6 assists as a freshman.
Taylor currently has 11 interceptions on the gridiron for the Tigers this season. Taylor has 28 receptions and 611 yards as a wide-out for the 8-2 Tigers. Taylor is my vote here for Region Player of the Year.
Darius Williams (2019) – Hemingway HS
Williams is a man-child in the paint with his frame. Williams 6’3 is a left-handed undersized post that thrives on contact and clearing out the lane. Football seems to be his big ticket at the college level. Williams currently has 61 tackles and 3 sacks.
Kobe Praylow (2018) – Hannah-Pamplico HS
Praylow is playing football this season for the Red Raiders after averaging 21.7 ppg last season on the hardwood. Praylow a water bug guard has a crazy looking shot release. Praylow is getting it done on the football field this season. Praylow a running back/wide receiver has 938 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns heading into the playoffs this Friday.
Shaquille Johnson (2018) – Green Sea-Floyds HS (Green Sea)
Johnson came over from the across the North Carolina border. Johnson 6’3 is a physically gifted athlete that is very versatile on the football field. Johnson really likes to attack the baseline on the hardwood. Johnson will be the Newcomer of the Year in Region 6-A this coming season.
TJ Fladger (2018) – Creek Bridge HS (Gresham – Marion County)
Fladger is looking forward to playing hoops after suffering through 3 seasons of win-less football. Fladger has good size to play the guard position but, just hasn’t really played a lot of basketball over the years.
Sleeper in the Region : Robert Fuller (2020) – Lake View HS (Lake View)
Fuller 6’6 plays at a non-basketball school along the North Carolina border. Basketball season for the most part don’t start in Lake View until about Mid-December after the Wild Gators football team makes a deep run into the playoffs.Fuller played with a local AAU team andis still a RAW talent to follow in the years to come.
Projection Order of Finish : Hemingway HS, Hannah-Pamplico HS, Green Sea-Floyds HS, Lake View HS, Creek Bridge and East Clarendon HS
