The Basketball Interview with Gabe Kalscheur
Minnesota commit Gabe Kalscheur of DeLaSalle took time out of his day to fill out The Basketball Interview for Prep Hoops today.
At your school, what is your favorite part or parts about game days in terms of the routine leading up to the game?
GK: Well at my school I like watching the JV games before ours and I also like praying with the team before every game.
What makes your crowd unique? What is a memorable thing that they’ve done that you will always remember?
GK: At DeLaSalle we have are signature clap and if it’s a close game or we’re down that clap really carries us and gets us all amped up.
Who is the toughest player that you have faced in your career?
GK: I would say McKinley Wright because when we played him he gave us work.
Who is your biggest rival and what about them makes the rivalry both heated and memorable?
GK: I would say our school’s biggest rival is Benilde but my biggest rival is CDH because I know a lot of those guys on the team and who ever wins gets huge bragging rights.
Who is your favorite basketball player in the world and why?
GK: My favorite basketball player is LeBron James because he’s such an all around player and a great leader and floor general. He’s is literally the goat
What court that you haven’t played on would you dream of playing on?
GK: Madison Square Garden because it has so much history and it would be an honor to play there.
Explain the relationship varsity players have at your school with youth players?
GK: We welcome the young youth players as if they are family to The Island and show them the ropes of the legacy of DeLaSalle.
Best coaching advice you’ve received is what and who was it from?
GK: I would say you “play like you practice” so take every second of practice seriously.
Who is your basketball influence?
GK: My mom is my influence to the game of basketball and my coaches that have helped me along the way.
