The Metro Athletic Preview
The Metro Athletic Conference will look a lot differently this year with so many of the big names moving on. Lincoln has the most talent but is Washington the team to beat?
Last Year. O’Gorman was the clear frontrunner last year and they won the title behind Matt Cartwright and PJ Costello. Lincoln had a rough start but the talent on their roster made an excellent late push. Washington completely bottomed out late in the year while it was a season at Roosevelt most want to forget, so change came. Brandon Valley’s senior group put together a nice year winning 15.
Conference Commentary
State Contender: Lincoln. They definitely have the most talent. There is zero question about that and the way they finished the year was a big sign of things to come. But can this group put it all together? There were some team struggles early a year ago. But they just are so much more talented than the rest of the league.
Top Ten: Washington, O’Gorman. O’Gorman was so reliant on Matt and JP last year that you wonder how they will be in terms of being state contenders. They will have to of course be a tough team to beat but a top squad? Washington? They will be the toughest bunch but last year’s fall really stood out. They have size, do they have enough on the wing? A name to really watch from O’Gorman is Akoi Akoi.
Will Compete: Roosevelt, Brandon Valley. Roosevelt looks like a different squad right now we are told in the local leagues. Their have been encouraging signs. Brandon Valley has young talent but it could be a struggle this year as that young talent learns to play at this level.
