The Basketball Interview with Jordan Belka
Rogers forward Jordan Belka talked with Prep Hoops about basketball at Rogers and including his hoops influences.
At your school, what is your favorite part or parts about game days in terms of the routine leading up to the game?
JB: I would say that my favorite part of game days would probably be the team meals that we have before each game. It’s a great way to talk hoops and just be around the guys
What makes your crowd unique? What is a memorable thing that they’ve done that you will always remember?
JB: I’d say the best part of our crowd would be the support that they give us every game. They always come out and show support which is really nice to see.
Who is the toughest player you can recall playing against in Minnesota basketball and why?
JB: I’d have to say Brad Davison was the toughest player to play against just because he can hurt you in so many ways.
Who is your biggest rival and what about them makes the rivalry both heated and memorable?
JB: The biggest rival for Rogers is definitely STMA. We have always had great battles and almost every year we meet in sections.
Who is your favorite basketball player in the world and why?
JB: My favorite basketball player in the world is probably Kevin Durant. Now I don’t like his move from OKC to Golden State but as a basketball player he is incredible. To be that tall and that skilled is pretty incredible.
All basketball players love gear. What brand of gear or type of gear are you partial to?
JB: The gear I’ve always rocked is Nike so I’d say that Nike is my favorite.
What is your favorite venue to play basketball in that you’ve played in?
JB: I don’t really have a favorite venue to play in. Basketball is basketball no matter where it’s played.
What court that you haven’t played on would you dream of playing on?
JB: I’d love to play at Target Center so hopefully we can get there this year.
Explain the relationship varsity players have at your school with youth players?
JB: The varsity and youth programs are very connected at Rogers as we work many camps to try to help the youth develop.
Best coaching advice you’ve received is what and who was it from?
JB: The best coaching advice I have received would be “if you want something, you have to go and get it. Nothing is given and everything is earned.” This was from my dad who also happens to be my high school coach so I really took that to heart and try to work and get better everyday.
Who is your basketball influence?
JB: My basketball influence comes from my family. We are a big time basketball family as that is the only sport my brother and I play.
