Prospect Spotlight: Curran Ingram (2020)
Des Moines Christian guard Curran Ingram will make his debut in the coming 2020 rankings, and could be in line for a breakout sophomore season this winter with the Lions.
The 6-foot-1 shooting guard had a coming out party at our Top 250 Expo last month, showcasing some elite shooting and slick ball-handling. We had him define his game to us during a recent phone interview.
“I can shoot decently well, but I also like to rebound a lot, that’s one of my fortes. I like to get the offense going and pass the ball,” said Ingram.
“My ball-handling is not the best right now, so I’ve been working on that. And I’ve been working on being a better defender.”
He added: “I want to become a lights out shooter, where there’s no way I’m going to miss it. I just want to be the guy that we can go to in a game to hit a shot, and make it no problem.”
Ingram spent his spring and summer playing with Kingdom Hoops Elite 15U, and says he was able to improve while spending his offseason with the very talented group of guys.
“We’ve got a lot of players that can play and that are talented. I thought I played pretty good, I played more of a team-player role, I didn’t score a ton,” said Ingram.
“I worked on my defense mostly this summer, and it improved a lot.”
As he heads into his sophomore season with Des Moines Christian, Ingram says there might be a chance he plays a substantial role with the varsity.
“I talked with our new coach, and he says I’ll be playing on varsity and could be in the top five — depending on if I have a great attitude and leadership going into the season,” said Ingram.
“He wants me to lift my teammates up and be a good teammate. And I just want to be the guy that can knock down open shots, and I think I’ll be able to rebound well for my team.”
