2019 Point Guards Poised For Breakout Seasons
There is a lot of guard talent in the 2019 class. There are players with a lot of different sets of skills who are all working toward their moment. I’m going to introduce you to two guards in Michigan that I feel have the skills, the attitude, and the work ethic to put themselves firmly on to the recruiting map this season.
Bobby Walton
Bobby Walton is a classic story of hard work and improvement. He is a 6-0 point guard at Oak Park High School. In 2016, he had one of the most drastic development rates of any player statewide. His game has continued to grow since. He’s developed from a scoring shooting guard to a dynamic point guard who can be trusted with the ball. He can run an offense and also has the ability to play off the ball. He is a shooter with three point range, but can score off the dribble as well. Look for Bobby Walton to play himself on to many more college coach’s radars this season.
Deshawn Marbury
Deshawn Marbury is a player on the brink. He’s a 5-9 point guard from Detroit Henry Ford. He’s solid with the ball and can make passes that many cannot. He has the ability to play at any tempo, but likes to push the ball. He can create tempo off the dribble or with a solid pass. Marbury can shoot, but is especially effective taking the ball to the basket. He has a good first step and straight line speed. Marbury takes pride in his defense as well. He’s a strong and physical kid who plays bigger than his height.
Look for Bobby Walton and Deshawn Marbury to have breakout seasons in 2017-2018. They have worked and developed their games and are on the brink of stardom.
