Sectional Preview: 43
The coming high school season is almost upon us. With that, we are taking a look at each Sectional in the state. Starting with 64 and ending with 1. Today, we are previewing Sectional 43.
Heritage Christian (17-10) – Lost Semi State
Heritage Christian had a run last year in the postseason that no one could have seen coming. This year, they lose five seniors but do return a ton of players from last year including some very potent players. It was an up-and-down team last year that had a hot streak into the postseason. This year they won’t win as many but they will be well suited for another run.
Indianapolis Arlington (13-10) – Lost 1st Rd. Sectional
Arlington was decent last year with a bunch of seniors but losing seven of their players is really going to hurt. This year they are going to struggle after losing all those players and they are going to have to rebuild this year with an eye for the future.
Indianapolis Scecina (16-10) – Lost 2nd Rd. Sectional
Scecina loses six seniors but they also do return most of their good players in their junior and senior class. This will be a very entertaining, much improved team in 2A and I can see them making a deep run. They are going to struggle with rebounding but their quickness this year will make up for it. They will contend for a crown this year.
Indianapolis Shortridge (2-19) – Lost 1st Rd. Sectional
Shortridge doesn’t lose anyone from last year so this year they will be much better. They have a big junior class but no height to speak of so they will be very limited this year in what they can do. This will be a year that I can see them winning 6-8 games but they still won’t contend for a title.
Indianapolis Washington (1-19) – Lost 1st Rd. Sectional
Washington struggled a ton last year and this year it won’t change. They lose some players from last year and they don’t have any real talent coming in so it will be another down year for them.
Park Tudor (16-7) – Lost 1st Rd. Sectional
Park Tudor has always been good and this year will be no different. It will be a different looking this year without Kobe Webster but they still project to be pretty good. They are well coached and that will help them contend. They lost a few seniors last year but nothing they can’t overcome this year.
Speedway (6-18) – Lost Sectional Final
Speedway lost a lot of players last year but do return one of their best players. They won’t be able to contend with the amount of players they lost last year but they could get a few wins.
Contenders For 2017-18: Heritage Christian, Scecina, Park Tudor
Prediction: Indianapolis Scecina
Player to Watch: Isiah Moore (Park Tudor)
