Recruiting Report: Peyton Vinyard (2019)
Peyton Vinyard is a combo guard from Norman North High School. Vinyard plays his grassroots ball for the Oklahoma Power, where he had a really strong summer. He is not a flashy player, but he gets the job done at running the Point.
Vinyard is a good distributer of the ball. He likes to get his teammates involved and be a team player. He shoots the ball well when he is left open and is a good rebounder. On the defensive side of the ball, he plays hard defense on whoever he is guarding.
Before the upcoming season, Vinyard would like to become bigger and stronger so that he can add all three layers to his game. He would like to be able to finish the ball against anyone who is guarding him.
Vinyard has two favorite player in the NBA right now, Russell Westbrook and Isiah Thomas. He likes Westbrook because of the effort he brings to the court. He likes how Westbrook plays hard all the time and does not take a play off. He likes Thomas because of his size. Vinyard compared his size to Thomas and likes to look at how he gets his shots off against bigger opponents.
While not playing basketball, Vinyard focuses on baseball. He plays baseball whenever he is not is the gym playing basketball. In any free time outside of those two sports, he likes to hang out with his friends.
While looking for a college, Vinyard is looking for a school that is right for him. He wants to fit in well with any team that he is playing for. He is also focused on his education. He would like to major in business while in college.
“I want to get a good education,” said Vinyard. “That is important to me.”
Vinyard currently has a 4.0 GPA and has not yet taken the ACT.
Vinyard is currently ranked No. 44 in the 2019 class of Oklahoma.
In the upcoming season, Vinyard would like to get better in all aspects of his game. Norman North will have to replace Trae Young this season and Vinyard wants to do this by playing as a team. He would also wants to out work anyone that he will face this season.
