The Basketball Interview with Ian Schafer
Bismarck point guard Ian Schafer is next up in the BB Interview and he lets us know what the “Kalgaard Krazies” are.
At your school, what is your favorite part or parts about game days in terms of the routine leading up to the game?
IS: I actually enjoy dressing up for home games and watching the junior varsity game
What makes your crowd unique? What is a memorable thing that they’ve done that you’ll always remember?
IS: The Karlgaard Krazies in my opinion are the best student section in the state our gym is always rocking and the banana always being at the games is a memorable tradition.
Who is the toughest player you can recall playing against in South Dakota Basketball and why?
IS: Trae Steckler and Aanen Moody come to mind but I’d have to say Moody he makes the toughest shots that are very difficult to guard
Who is your biggest rival and what about them makes the rivalry both heated and memorable.
IS: I’d have to say Cole Gendreau, we both usually put up good numbers and our teams always have battles when we play each other
Who is your favorite player in the world and why?
IS: Russell Westbrook, I love the energy he plays with and his explosiveness
All basketball players love gear. What brand of gear or type of gear are you partial to?
IS: The Jordan Brand
What is your favorite venue to play basketball in that you’ve played in?
IS: The Karlgaard at Bismarck High School of course, best gym in the state
What court that you haven’t played on would you dream of playing on?
IS: Chapel Hill at UNC or Cameron Indoor Stadium at Duke
Explain the relationship varsity players have at your school with youth players.
IS: All The upperclassmen have very good relationships with the freshman and sophomores and all the middle schoolers usually attend our games and talk to us after
Best coaching advice you’ve received is what and who is it from?
IS: Develop a mid-range game, from Coach Perry Hanson my freshman year
Who is your basketball influence?
IS: My older brother has always pushed me to be great and is always so supportive
