Oklahoma Class 6A Favorites
The high school season has arrived in the Sooner state. Oklahoma has excellent competition throughout each class. Today Prep Hoops Oklahoma starts to preview with favorites in each class. Class 6A is the largest classification in Oklahoma which features typically the best talent in the state. The argument for Class 5A being the best class can be made this year with Booker T. Washington moving down. With that said Class 6A is still a solid class with tons of talented players and teams.
Prep Hoops Oklahoma gives two teams that are considered favorites in Class 6A with a bonus section on darkhorse teams to make some noise.
Favorites
Putnam City North
The Putnam City North Panthers are the clear-cut favorite in Class 6A with Midwest City losing Keyshawn Embery to Prep School and Booker T. Washington moving down to Class 5A. North is lead by Adokiye Iyaye at the two guard spot. Iyaye is one of the top players in the state of Oklahoma. What separates him is his leadership on the court and versatility. Iyaye can do so many things to impact the game in a positive way. Iyaye leads the way but has a vast amount of help behind him. Micah Thomas is one of the most better guards in the Oklahoma 2019 Class. Thomas is the definition of consistent. Game in and game out Thomas brings his ability to score the ball and make others around him better. Blake Owens anchors the Post with authority at 6’7. The player not many know but should is Chris Braggs. He has turned into a good option on the Wing for Putnam City North that can also bang in the paint when needed. The Panthers won’t have a perfect 2017-2018 season. They will be the #1 team in the Prep Hoops Oklahoma Class 6A Rankings this season.
Broken Arrow
The Tigers are loaded all over the court with the most talented starting five in Oklahoma. Now the question is can Broken Arrow mesh the talent of Caleb Huffman, Camryn Dennis, Josh Robinson, Braden Boyer, and company. Huffman and Dennis are two dynamic options at the Point Guard spot that can break down defenses by scoring using their athleticism and quickness with ease. Huffman and Dennis playing together will feed off each other. What makes the Tigers even tougher is to have two Point Guards like Huffman and Dennis that can handle the ball and run the offense efficiently. Moving in from Texas Robinson is an intriguing raw talent on the Wing at 6’5. Boyer is one of the best Post players in Oklahoma who recently committed to UAFS. The Tigers may stumble a few times in the regular season, however, don’t be surprised when they are making a deep run in the state tournament.
Dark Horses
Midwest City
The Bombers lost the best player in the state Keyshawn Embery (IMG Academy) and Jalen Redmond (Early enrollee at Oklahoma for Football). But don’t sleep on Midwest City with three key seniors returning Derrick Walter Jr., Josh Rivers, and Juwan Walker. The Bombers are loaded with young talent to surround the senior trio. Midwest City will be a fringe state tournament team.
Norman
The Tigers emerged last season to have great success after winning less than five games the season before. Coach Rodney Dindy has the Tigers ready to compete for the Class 6A crown. They are led by Jacob Ogle, Jakaree Holmes and Bryce Mooreland. Shane Didiuk is another player to keep an eye on. Norman looks poised to make the state tournament.
Westmoore
How will Westmoore respond after their trip to the state tournament a year ago? With another trip Prep Hoops Oklahoma thinks! Will Graham leads the way for Westmoore at Point Guard. He had a severe leg injury this summer but looks to bounce back with a bang for his senior season. Graham has help around him with senior Forward James Palmer being one of the best two-sport athletes in the state (Football and Basketball). Anthony Riley is another name to know on the Jaguars.
Prep Hoops will release the preseason Top 10 Rankings for each class on November 1st.
