Preseason All-Conference: Top of Iowa – East
Preseason Player of the Year: Drew Olson, Osage (2018)
This guy is not just the best player in the conference, but one of the best players in all of 2A. Iowa’s 75th-ranked 2018, Olson will score in bunches, and get buckets, efficiently, from all over the court. He’s a natural leader who spent his spring and summer balling with one of Iowa’s best grassroots teams, Iowa Mavericks Purple 17U.
First Team
Drew Olson, Osage (2018) 18.0 PPG, 54 FG%, 44 3FG%, 3.7 APG, 3.0 SPG, 4.8 RPG
Scoring, assisting, rebounding, defending, there’s nothing this 6’2 guard can’t do. He’s going to post huge numbers for the Green Devils this winter, and that should help result in plenty on Ws.
Zach Martinek, West Fork (2019) 17.4 PPG, 83 FT%, 6.2 RPG
A 6’4 point guard, Martinek has a size advantage each night out, and will exploit that a bunch over the course of the season. He’s not just big though, but skilled, and that high free-throw percentage is one example of that.
Zach Bushbaum, Rockford (2018) 16.1 PPG, 43 3FG%, 88 FT%, 4.5 RPG
Perhaps the best shooter in the division, and certainly one of the most precise shooters in Iowa, Bushbaum put up super efficient jumper numbers last season — and rebounds well from the guard spot to boot.
Dylan Clipperton, North Butler (2018) 15.0 PPG, 3.3 APG, 1.7 SPG, 3.7 RPG
A bright spot in North Butler’s seven win season last winter, Clipperton led the team in scoring, assists and steals. One year the wiser, look for him to lead the team again in all categories, and build upon those junior season numbers.
Josh Fitzgerald, Mason City Newman (2019) 9.7 PPG, 2.5 APG, 2.2 SPG
As a sophomore, Fitzgerald had a bit of a coming out party. Now, with two years of varsity experience under his belt, look for the 6-foot guard to turn into an all-out star this winter for the Knights.

Dayton Hansen, Nashua-Plainfield (2018)
