These players are primed to take over much of the scoring and rebounding from their predecessors.
Greensboro Day–JP Moorman is off starting his freshman season at Temple University and John Newman is ready to take over the full-time reigns. Newman has committed to Clemson University and will provide much of the dirty work for Greensboro Day with the departure of Moorman. The future Tiger is a do-it-all player who can also score the basketball. He spent this summer playing with Team CP3 on the Nike EYBL circuit.
Lincolnton High School–Sage Surratt went down as one of the most decorated athletes in NCHSAA history. He won the Offensive Player of the Year for football and was awarded Mr. Basketball in the same calendar year. Surratt is now a freshman at Wake Forest playing football. Kris Robinson, a 2020 point guard at Lincolnton will need to come in and make more of an impact scoring the basketball. He averaged around 11 points per game this past season and will need to double that.
Terry Sanford High School–Telligence Johnson is a freshman at Fayetteville Tech and the scoring load will have to come from his younger brother this season. Malik Johnson is a heavily recruited point guard that should fall into the high-major category as a college destination. Johnson is tough, has a tight handle and knows how to score.
Charlotte Christian-With the graduation of Rob Peterson and the transfer of big man BJ Mack, Blake Preston and JC Tharrington will have to lead Charlotte Christian this season.
