This is always an interesting time of year, as there are a lot of things going on, but there really isn’t much organized basketball being played. While the college coaches are trying to make key decisions, players are back in their home gyms getting better. With each week this fall, we are going to take a look at the latest recruiting news from DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
MAC MCCLUNG REOPENS HIS RECRUITMENT
Gate City guard Mac McClung declared in a tweet on Friday that he plans to reopen his recruitment. The senior, who is coming off a breakout summer with Team Loaded Virginia, will be in high demand after this announcement.
NOAH LOCKE TO FLORIDA
McDonogh guard Noah Locke ended his recruitment with a pledge to Florida earlier this week. The EYBL’s leading three point man, who is considered one of the elite shooters in the country, will be a welcomed addition in Gainesville.
URI LANDS JERMAINE HARRIS
Rhode Island picks up their second DMV-based 2018 commit in Rock Creek Christian post Jermaine Harris. The 6’10 senior will team up with Saint James guard Amir Harris at the next level.
TRE WOOD COMMITS TO UMASS
Tre Wood made his decision Friday night with a verbal commitment to UMass. Considered a lockdown defender, and one of the DMV’s most dynamic playmakers, Wood should have a chance to make an immediate impact in the A10.
NAVY SCORES A STEAL IN RICHARD NJOKU
Navy has landed the services of Richard Njoku for the next four years. Many schools in the Patriot League were coveting the defensive stalwart from St. John’s College High School. This is a huge get for Ed DeChellis and his staff.
