Preseason All-Conference: Northeast Iowa
Preseason Player of the Year: Jackson Molstead, Charles City (2019)
A clear choice for this honor, Molstead not only has the pedigree from past seasons to justify this honor, but he has a strong 16U season under his belt with Martin Brothers to bolster it. He’s a quick and dazzling playmaker who could post absurd numbers this season as junior,
First Team
Jackson Molstead, Charles City (2019) 19.4 PPG, 40 3FG%, 6.0 APG, 1.9 SPG
For two years now, Molstead has been wrecking shop in the conference, and there’s no reason to believe those prolific numbers won’t continue to trend upward this season. He’s as skilled and quick as any guard in the conference, and will have a monster junior season with a state tourney-caliber team.
Jacob Bahe, Waverly-Shell Rock (2018) 6.8 PPG, 52 FG%, 4.0 RPG
With the departure of Northern Iowa-bound Austin Phyfe there’s a big void to be filled in the paint for the Go-Hawks. We think Bahe will step up and fill that void. He’s an athletic and big post with some decent height at 6’6, and should be stellar on both sides of the ball.
Dom Robertson, Oelwein (2019) 14.4 PPG, 3.3 APG, 3.9 SPG, 1.0 BPG, 5,0 RPG
Though his squad struggled mightily last season in this supremely tough conference, Robertson turned some heads while leading his team in scoring and the conference in steals as a sophomore. A dual threat; his great length makes him lethal defensively, and he could average up around 20 points per game this season.
Tristan Sweitzer, New Hampton (2019) 14.0 PPG, 5.0 APG, 1.3 SPG
Sweitzer earned his stripes last season as a sophomore, when he led his formidable Chickasaws squad in points, 3s made and assists. Look for him to better those numbers this season, and solidify himself as one of the better guards in the 2019 class.
Cade Hemaseth, Charles City (2018) 15.8 PPG, 50 FG%, 1.9 SPG, 1.2 BPG, 6.2 RPG
This Comets forward will do a little bit of everything in the paint and out on the perimeter for his squad, and helps make up one part of a lethal inside-outside duo for the team. The 6-foot-5 stretch-four will be critical to the state-tourney hopes of Charles City.
