Recruiting Report: Luke Ronsiek (2019)
Luke Ronsiek of Sioux Falls O’Gorman is now a junior and ready for the varsity level of play. His off-season with the Attack was strong and has helped the 5-foot-9 guard prepare for the winter.
“Some of the top highlights from this past summer was probably playing against the top teams in the country in Omaha and Wichita,” Luke stated. “I feel like I improved my finishing around the basket and my competitiveness on the defensive end of the court and being able to handle the pressure handling the ball.”
Luke played at the younger levels for O’Gorman while last year’s seniors were winning a title but if you follow the O’Gorman Hoops twitter you saw Luke’s name pop up numbers times.
The responsibility is greater now though because many names must be replaced. Luke knows that and is preparing.
“We lose our five starters from last year but we return a few players that played last year,” Luke said. “I’m not exactly sure what the future is like for us but we have a positive outlook on the season and some confidence from last year. I think we’ll compete just as well this year as we did last year.
“Right now I’m just getting in the weight room to put some more pounds on before the season. Also just trying to get my shot tuned by December.”
Luke handled the ball for the Attack distributing to the weapons that made the team the best 16u club in the Dakotas. Some schools noticed how well he played.
“I’ve received a few things from Mount Marty and Briar Cliff but that’s about it,” Ronsiek said of his college interest.
Luke looks to follow in the footsteps of last year’s Class AA Players of the Year.
“I would say my former teammate from last year Matt Cartwright taught me most about working hard and I loved watching and learning from his game,” Luke said.
