Recruiting Report: Trent Dykema (2018)
Six-foot-4 Silver Creek guard Trent Dykema committed to the Colorado Schools of Mines earlier in the week. Today we let everyone know what the program landed.
Trent is the 11th ranked prospect in the senior class of Colorado and he’s coming off a strong 17u season with the Colorado Titans.
“The top highlights of my 17u club season would probably be the bracket games in the platinum bracket of the Big Foot in Vegas,” Dykema said.
“For my game improving, I really think I got better at handling the ball with pressure, also moving with out the ball to get open and create more looks for myself. I also believe I shot the three much better than I have in the past.”
To compete at the division two level in the future Trent wants to become more physical and he wants to be a better player with the ball.
“I’ve really been trying to work on keeping my handle tight and be explosive/shifty with the ball because I will be playing a lot of point this winter,” Dykema said.
“I’m also working on my decision making whether it is creating a shot for myself or my team mates. I also have been working on my body to get stronger and more athletic.”
Dykema gave Silver Creek 20.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, three steals, and 2.7 assists per game as a junior. Trent will put up numbers but he wants wins.
“We lost some important pieces last year but we have a couple of experienced guys coming back and a lot of guys that have been waiting for their turn and have a ton of potential,” Trent said.
“Our goal for the season is to win our conference and make it very far in the tournament (final 4). I think we can do that if we can tap our potential and really come together as a team.”
Schools tracked Trent but he recently picked the Colorado School of Mines. He credits previous Silver Creek players with helping his growth. Favorite players? Some of the best shooters out there.
“I have had a couple guys older than me at Silver Creek who have influenced me to put into the work that I have. My favorite hooper in the NBA would be Klay Thompson and in college it would be Grayson Allen.”
