DMV Elite 80 Top Players: Virginia in the House Part 3
Bowie, MD. September 10, 2017.
Domenick Bailey, 6’1″, G, 2018. St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes Saints HS. Alexandria VA.
Grassroots Team: Team Takeover
Since SSSA graduated superb PG Denmark Slay to D1 High Point University, Domenick will be handling the ball more. He can play on the ball as facilitator or off the ball as a go to scorer. Domenick can get in the paint off the dribble and shoot the mid range pull up off the pick & roll. He can really shoot the 3 ball with great shot mechanics & a quick release from the spot up or on the move. Domenick is currently rated @ #45 in our Virginia 2018 rankings, but he has the ability to move higher. This season Domenick will play alongside 6’1″ 2020 Xavier Lipscomb, 6’4″ 2020 WG/WF Jamal Barnes & with 6’8″ 2019 PF” Christian Thompson inside & 2019, 6’7″ 2019 inside out F Jared White, 6’5″ 2019 WF/WG Christian DePollar running the baseline as WF/WG. We believe SSSA is a very dangerous team with top 10 DC /DMV potential. However the IAC Conference is very, very deep & talented this year led by Georgetown Prep & Bullis with SSSA possibly a threat to the Little Hoyas & Bulldogs. Episcopal & St. Albans are very capable & threats to cause major problems. We look forward & will be providing extensive coverage for Domenick, SSSA, and the IAC this season with game reports & player articles.
Christian DePollar 6’6″, W, 2019. St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes Saints HS. Alexandria VA.
Grassroots Team: DC Blue Devils 16U
We believe Christian is on the brink of taking his game to the next level with his great upside. He is a very long & bouncy left-hander who can play 3 positions in both sides of the ball. He possesses an excellent jumper with beautiful shot mechanics & a high elevation. This summer he played excellent defense for the highly ranked DC Blue Devils & proved he can do the intangibles. Christian can score from all 3 levels and can break the defense down off the dribble for a high flying dunk. It is our opinion that Christian possesses all the skills needed to be a legitimate D1 recruit. We will be writing a Recruiting Report for Christian within the next week & follow his progress all season.
Bryce Douglas, 6’3.5″, WG, 2019. Centreville Wildcats HS. Clifton, VA.
Grassroots Team: DC Premier
Bryce can light up the scoreboard & he shot lights out this summer for D Premier 16U. In his sophomore year Bryce averaged 16 ppg for Centreville HS & has a lot of upside, possibly developing into a D1 prospect. He can hit the mid range pull-up & finish at the rim in heavy traffic. In his 1st season at Centreville after transferring from Bishop Ireton Bryce was named Conference Player of the year. We will be providing coverage for Bryce this season and look forward to watching his development & the Wildcats VA State 6A Regionals run.
Bryce is #33 in an early season game in 2016 vs Briar Woods
Devon Flowers, 6’9″ F, 2018. The Potomac School Panthers. McLean VA.
Grassroots Team:
Devon is a very mobile & long 6’9″ combo forward who is very talented & still possesses a great upside. He can score inside out & has shown the ability to get to the rim off the dribble & finish. Devon has an array of post moves, & can shoot the mid range very well. Last year he The Potomac School in scoring, rebounds & blocks. Devon played very in the DeMatha BSN Summer League which was stacked with D1 players & he was named to the 2nd Team All Star team. This summer he received a D1 offer from Mt. St.Marys of MD who have just received commitments from 6’0″ Bullis HS PG Vado Morse & Bishop O’Connell HS 6’3″ sniper Matt Becht. Last season the Mount loaded up with DMV players signing : Donald Carey a 6’5″ PG (Douglass HS), 6’10″F Ace Stallings (Sidwell Friends), 6”5″ SF Omar Hawabe (St. James), 6’8″ Nanu Opku (Potomac HS), 6’3″ G James West (Freedom HS) & 6’6″ Ross Young from Sidwell as a preferred walk on. We expect more D1 offers to come in for Devon this season and we will covering him & The Potomac School this season with game reports and player articles.
Shyheim Gilkerson, 6’1″, PG, 2018. Virginia Academy Patriots HS. Ashburn, VA.
Grassroots Team: New World
Our 2018 2018 evaluations sum up Shykeim perfectly, “He has one of the quickest first steps in the state, and it’s a nightmare for opposing defenders to stay in front of him. His quickness can also be seen on the defensive end, where he has both quick feet and quick hands that allow him to make plays. He plays with pace off the bounce, but is also smart in knowing he can rip through or blow by defenders out of the triple threat. If he can improve his outside shooting it would take his game to the whole next level.” When we scouted Shykeim we did notice an improvement in his shooting stroke & he could very well become a D1 mid major this season. We will be following Shyheim & his progress this season attending Virginia Academy games with game reports & player articles. The Patriots play in the very strong Capital Beltway Conference.
Aamir Nesbitt, 6’1″, G, 2020 Virginia Academy Patriots HS Ashburn, VA.
Grassroots Team: BWSL Pope
From our 2020 Virginia Recruiting Evaluations, “Arguably the best shooting point guard in the class, Nesbitt torched the TCIS all season long after the transfer of Rasir Bolton. Nesbitt showed promise his first year at Sullivan, and after reclassifying he was the top freshman scorer in the conference. He has effortless range off the bounce, heats up quickly and isn’t afraid to shoot it from deep. He needs to continue to improve making others’ better, but being a young PG that can shoot isn’t easy to find in this state.” Aamir has since transferred to the Virginia Academy & he is ranked @ 16 # in our 2020 Virginia State Rankings with a D1 skill set. He played this season for the Virgin Islands in FIBA basketball & had a fantastic tournament.
Kobe Tigney, 6’3″ G, 2018. Virginia Academy Patriots HS. Ashburn, VA.
Grassroots Team: New World
Prep Hoops Virginia Recruiting Analyst wrote on July 19, 2017. “Kobe Tigney “has been under the radar for far too long, and he’s finally starting to see the college interest he deserves. The 6’4” lefty has seen a lot of recent interest from low major and division two schools, and with a big July he could see that interest turn into offers in no time. He’s long, athletic and can stroke it from deep, and at the next level he could be a solid three and d guy that could develop into a very good two way player with the right coaching. He’s also a very good student with a 3.7 GPA.” Kobe has transferred from Handley HS in Winchester, VA to the Virginia Academy where he will join forces with 1st year Head Coach Chris Rone. Coach Rone was very impressive on the sidelines when we saw him at the MD Team Games this summer. Kobe has the upside of a D1 recruit & he was offered by the US Naval Academy & D2 power Fairmont State this summer. We look forward to covering Kobe & the Virginia Academy this season.
Jordan White,6’3″ G, 2018. Christ Chapel Academy. Woodbridge, VA.
Grassroots Team: Team Takeover Grey
From our 2018 Prospect Evaluations, “Talk about a kid who has made all the right improvements, White looks like he may end up a scholarship level talent. At 6’3″ he has good size for a shooter and he’s trimmed down so his stamina is much better. He has a quick release, is good off screens and isn’t afraid to take the big shot. He needs to continue to sure up his frame but his ranking will likely go up before his senior season starts.”
Devon Sims, 6’4″, WG, 2018. Potomac Panthers HS. Dumfries VA.
Grassroots Team: District Basketball Club
Devon Sims is a very valuable high energy glue player who can defend multiple postilions. At 6’4, he plays much bigger due to his long wingspan. Sims has not peaked yet, and has a chance to be more productive at the college level. Devon transferred to Potomac HS this summer from Paul VI HS. He had very successful summer playing for The District basketball Club on The Powerade Circuit.
