Louisiana Top 250 Camp: Top 2019 Performers pt. 2
Norris Williams 6’1 G Archbishop Hannan
Williams was one of the most impressive point guard prospects in the building, and certainly showed why he is a top 10 prospect of the 2019 class. He has grown quite a lot since last summer, and is now prototypical size of a point guard. He is most effective when attacking downhill, and is as effective as anyone at using his shiftiness to get around opposing defenses. He has a good floater game, and sees the floor well.
Dre’yon Robertson 6’3 G Jehovah Jireh
Robertson is a bit of a guard/forward tweener, but he is capable of using his size and athleticism to finish around the rim at a high level. He still needs to tighten up his handles to transition to the 2, which he will need to play at the next level, but he can finish above the rim with the best of them.
Kaalas Roots 6’0 G Bossier
Kaalas had one of the more underrated performances of the camp, and I came away very impressed with what I saw. He is an absolute lights out shooter, and can use floaters and angles to finish around the rim. What I was most surprised by was just how well he saw the floor, and was able to see cutters and put the ball right where it needed to be.
Tyrease Terrell 6’3 G Northshore
Terrell is another shooter that I came away impressed by. He has good size for an off guard, and proved to space the ball as well as anyone. He has the length to get his shot off over tight defense, and has all of the tools to be a lockdown defender on the other side of the ball.
Kalil Thomas 6’3 G Holy Cross
Thomas first popped up on our radar last summer at last year Prep Hoops Top 250. And he has gotten a lot better in that time. He was one of the highest risers for our latest 2019 ranking update, and his game proves why. He has really nice size, and is capable of playing either guard position. He is a smooth scorer, and can score at all three levels. I expect him to continue to rise up rankings before his graduation.
Dywan Griffin 6’1 G Landry Walker
Griffin was another incredibly impressive 2019 point guard that we had in the building, and showed exactly why he is a top 10 prospect. He can get to the rim at will, and has a variety of finshes with either hand. He sees the floor well, and is a willing passer. He has clearly been putting in work on his jumpshot, and now looks to have added a nice mid range pullup to his game.
Tylan Pope 6’5 F Franklington
If you haven’t checked out our best plays of the camp video that Josh Preston, I highly encourage you to do so. If you have, you will have seen Tylan Pope all over the place. Last season, he was relegated to mostly around the rim, but he seems to have made a full transition to the wing this season. He can snatch the ball off the rim and take it coast to coast, finishing above the rim with authority. His jumpshot looked much improved, and if he continues to work on that aspect of his game, will be a knockdown shooter in no time.
