Recruiting Report: Jon’il Fugett (2018)
Jon’il Fugett is one of Denver’s best. After helping George Washington to a 25-3 season as a junior Fugett has big expectations as a senior.
“My goal is a State Championship.”
After putting up 16.3 points, 4.6 assists, 3.4 steals, and two boards a game as a junior Fugett is in position to think big.
“I think that we are definitely state contenders this year and I expect us to show well out in Vegas as well as in Colorado.”
As a 5-foot-11 lead guard Fugett led the Colorado Hawks this 17u season and his favorite part was the level of competition faced each weekend.
“My top highlights of this last year’s club season would be the challenges I faced on the court with a lot of the matchups that my teams have went up against,’ Fugett said. “Another one would be the teammates that I got to play and bond with. I had some great memories this summer.”
Playing at this level of competition allows players to know their strengths and weaknesses, as well what they want to work on.
“Definitely my shot,” Jon’il said about what he is working on. “Working on consistency and taking better shots now that I’m at the point guard spot, and also my bounce. It seems like the ability to jump takes you a long way in this generation.”
The schools showing interest?
“Drexel University and Metro are looking at me pretty heavy so if anymore division ones contact me or if things progress with these schools then I’ll probably look into a visit with them,” Fugett stated.
Fugett has learned how to play by watching past George Washington standouts as well as a pair of NBA lead guards.
“My favorite hooper of all time goes to Derrick Rose,” Jon’il said. “ Damian Lillard is my favorite player right now.
“All the older kids that I played up with growing up have helped shape my game tremendously. They had such a big influence on showing me how to play the game.
