Recruiting Report: Josiah Strong (2018)
It’s Josiah Strong‘s time at Champlin Park now.
After learning alongside stud McKinley Wright (now at Colorado) in the backcourt, Strong is the feature guard. The graduation of Wright and Marquette forward Theo John means major change for CP, but Strong, Bennett Otto, Carlston McKenzie and others will be there to make the transition.
Before the winter season begins, however, Strong will be traveling. He has three visits planned to colleges that have offered him scholarships.
“I am visiting Navy from September 15–17, Mankato from October 6–9, and UM-KC from October 13–15,” Strong said. “Those three along with NDSU and Army are the schools that I talk to most consistently. I would say that group is a ‘top three’ at this point, but I am still open to other schools. Right now those three are recruiting me hardest.”
With two military academies recruiting him, Strong has to figure out if that lifestyle would suit him.
“I don’t really see myself in the military at the moment, but I want to see more about the school (Navy),” he said. “I heard the campus is beautiful, and they have a coaching staff that seems to put me as first priority, so I want to just go see it in person. I want to learn more about the commitment from the players on the team.”
Strong isn’t sure about a decision date, but he does know exactly what he’ll be looking at on each campus.
“The coaches, campus, and academics will be huge in where I decide to go.”
