Area All-Star Teams: Chicago Suburbs
What area of the state has the best talent? We designed our “All-Area All-Star Teams” for five regions throughout the state of Illinois. Here is our Chicago Suburbs All-Star Team.
Chicago Suburbs
PG: DJ Steward (Fenwick)
Steward is only a sophomore, but he is the best in the state. He is a smooth floor general that can score and dish.
SG: Perry Cowan (DePaul Prep)
Cowan will be a nice backcourt running mate with Steward as he can hit jumpers and score from a variety of areas on the floor.
SF: Drew Peterson (Libertyville)
Peterson is a skilled shooter that will fit well on the perimeter spacing the floor and getting out in transition for this squad.
PF: Zion Griffin (Hinsdale South)
Griffin is the star for this team. The powerful combo forward will be able to play both spots using his strength, athleticism, and versatility.
C: Ryan Davis (Conant)
Davis will be asked to rebound at a high level for this squad and the state’s #3 2018 center will also space the floor in the pick and pop.
Bench
Guard: DeAndre Heckard (Romeoville)
Heckard is a perfect backup point guard to Steward bringing veteran leadership and scoring pop off the bench.
Guard: Joseph Yesufu (Bolingbrook)
Yesufu is a quick and shifty guard that will be a speedster in transition and energizer bunny off the bench.
Wing: Martin Macenis (Stagg)
Macenis will backup Peterson on the wing and there won’t be much of a drop off as they have a similar skilled offensive game.
Wing: Bryant Brown (Waukegan)
Brown is a versatile player that can play both forward spots while getting to the rack, rebounding, and playing defense.
Post: Jalen Shaw (Larkin)
Shaw is one of the best posts coming off the bench on any of these teams. We feel he will fit best as a rim protector, rebounder, and running the floor.
Post: Ciaran Brayboy (New Trier)
Brayboy is an upside post that can develop offensively and provide a nice compliment inside to either senior center.
