Recruiting Roundup: Dave McCormack Top Schools, Official Visits, and More
This is always an interesting time of year, as there are a lot of things going on, but there really isn’t much organized basketball being played. While the college coaches are in their offices trying to make key decisions, players are back in their home gyms getting better. With each week this fall, we are going to take a look at the latest recruiting news from DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Oak Hill Academy ’18 center David McCormack has cut his list to six schools: UCLA, Kansas, Xavier, Oklahoma State, Duke, and NC State. The Wolfpack are playing host to McCormack for his first official visit this weekend.
John Carroll ’18 point guard Immanuel Quickley is taking his first official visit to Kansas this weekend. The Team BBC standout, who recently removed Maryland from the list of schools he’s considering, will officially visit Miami on September 8, and Kentucky Sept 15.
Perry Hall ’18 forward Anthony Higgs has cut his list to seven schools: Ole Miss, Colorado, Xavier, St. Joe’s, UMass, Tulsa, Towson. Team Melo’s outstanding front court player is taking his first official visit to Ole Miss this weekend.
Oak Hill Academy ’18 guard Keldon Johnson is taking his first official visit to Texas this weekend. The Longhorns are considered a favorite to land the five star Boo Williams stud. Johnson will travel to Tallahassee next weekend, where Florida State will get the opportunity to host him officially.
Bishop O’Connell ’18 guard Xavier Johnson, who is officially visiting Washington this weekend, has reportedly been receiving heavy interest from South Carolina. The Team Takeover lead guard, who has already set five official visits, had initially trimmed his list to six.
McDonogh ’18 guard Noah Locke is taking an official visit to Providence this weekend. Team Melo’s sharpshooter, who has been one of the summer’s biggest stock boosters, took his official visit to Ohio State last month. Locke, who took an unofficial visit to Virginia in August, will take his remaining official visits to Xavier on September 9, Michigan on September 16, and Florida September 30.
Trinity Episcopal ’18 guard Jason Wade has set official visits to Old Dominion September 16, and VCU October 6. Our very own Jack Herron made a prediction on where the defending state champ will land.
St. Maria Goretti ’18 guard Josh Mack took an official visit to Shepherd today. The senior was an instrumental figure in the back court this summer for a very good Erick Green Premiere team.
Potomac School ’18 forward Devon Flowers has lined up three official visits. The 6’8 forward, who we featured today in a recruiting report, will travel to Coastal Carolina on Sep 7th, Loyola the 15th, and James Madison the 22nd.
Trinity Episcopal ’19 big man Armando Bacot is unofficially visiting North Carolina on September 9th. The junior, who helped solidify one of the best front courts in the country with Team Loaded, is considered one of the best bigs nationally in his class.
DeMatha ’20 center Hunter Dickinson is set to take an unofficial visit to Penn State on September 9th. The Nittany Lions are among a handful of power five programs, including Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Wake Forest, Illinois, Iowa, South Carolina, and Alabama, who are actively recruiting the Team Takeover product. Dickinson is expected to visit South Bend this fall as well.
Sidwell Friends ’19 guard Jason Gibson took an unofficial visit to Delaware on Friday. The junior, who scored it in bunches this summer for the 6th Man Warriors, appears poised for a breakout high school campaign.
LC Bird ’18 front court duo Chris Ford and Tyrek Williams are scheduled to visit Norfolk State for the Labor Day Classic this weekend. The Spartans are a favorite to land Ford.
John Carroll ’19 forward Yavuz Gultekin is taking an unofficial visit to George Mason this weekend. The Mid Atlantic Select standout, who has an offer from Old Dominion, is receiving interest from a handful of division one programs.
LC Bird ’18 guard Rahim Jenkins took an unofficial visit to Virginia State this week. He is certainly underrated, and was one of the most consistent players on River City Reign this summer.
Virginia Episcopal ’19 forward Patrick Kelly was offered by Penn State. Team Loaded’s reliable three-point ace is trending up in recruiting circles.
St. John’s ’19 guard Casey Morsell is taking an unofficial visit to Temple this weekend. The Owls have made Team Takeover’s excellent guard a priority.
Loudoun Valley ’18 wing Jordan Miller committed to George Mason today. The 6’5 lefty, who was the best player for D1SA Spartans this summer, was highly coveted among a handful of division one programs.
