Same Face, New Place (Part 6)
In anticipation of the upcoming high school season, we will be taking a closer look at various teams and players throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia. In this edition we’ll be covering transfers, and the type of impact we believe each player could make with their new team.
JOSH WALLACE | DEMATHA ’19
Josh Wallace is a hard working point guard who is crafty, very unselfish, and defends at a high level. He can score when asked, but clearly understands the importance of getting his teammates involved. Wallace is coming off an excellent sophomore year at St. Mary’s Annapolis followed by a standout summer with DC Blue Devils, and will be a welcomed addition to what has a chance to be a very good DeMatha squad.
QUDUS WAHAB | FLINT HILL ’19
Qudus Wahab, one of the top bigs in the 2019 class nationally, will bring his elite shot blocking and rebounding prowess to Flint Hill and play under Head Coach Rico Reed this season. The 6’11 center will form a dangerous front court duo along with one of the area’s best stretch bigs, Dowar Jioklow.
CHARLIE WEBER | BISHOP O’CONNELL ’19
Based on what we saw in summer league, it seems as though O’Connell will play a different brand of basketball this year, and we believe it’s a type of ball that suits Charlie Weber. The 6’8 forward, who works extremely hard on the boards, is an excellent pick and pop big who can also score with his back to the basket and protect the rim.
ELIJAH WOOD | BETHESDA CHEVY CHASE ’20
Considered a top wing in the area, Elijah Wood will take his talents to what has a chance to be a very good B-CC team. Barons Head Coach Sean Tracy will likely deploy the long limbed 6’5 wing all over the floor, as he has the potential to defend multiple positions.
JAHMIR YOUNG | DEMATHA ’19
We touched on the type of impact Jahmir Young could make at DeMatha earlier this month. He is one of the most improved point guards in the local 2019 class, and will only get better as he will get a chance to learn from one of the most respected high school coaches in the country.
