17u Final July Weekend Top Team Previews
NOLA23– Fab48 Diamond Division & BigFoot Las Vegas Classic(Las Vegas, NV)
NOLA23’s 17u team is playing in concurrent tournaments in Las Vegas, and is hoping to bring home two championships. Two players picked up offers last weekend (Marc Bowie to Arkansas Fort Smith and Jamiree Williams to Nicholls St.) and they are hoping that this weekend will lead to even more offers.
LA Select Team Milsaps- BigFoot Las Vegas Classic (Las Vegas, NV)
LA Select Team Milsaps had a fantastic weekend last weekend in Dallas, from 14u-17u, and I expect much of the same this weekend. They rely heavily on a trio of 2018 guards in Eli Mouton (Ascension), Jalen Dalcourt (Lafayette), and John Buggs III (Summerfield), and when 6’8 F Jaden Edwards (Lafayette) is giving max effort, he is one of the top bigs in the state.
New Orleans Elite- Adidas Summer Championships (Las Vegas, NV)
Because of their success on the Silver Division of the Adidas Circuit this spring, New Orleans Elite qualified for the Adidas Summer Championships once again this season. They are bringing a talented squad of some of the best that New Orleans has to offer, such as 2018 G Kendrick Dandy, Malik Legania, and Sai Fisher, and F Semaj Matthews.
6th Man- Fab48 Gold Division (Las Vegas, NV)
6th Man’s 17u squad was off last weekend, but they are hoping to have the same success at the Fab48 as they had last season. 6th Man played on the Adidas Circuit for the first time this season, but didn’t qualify for the Summer Championships. They have a bunch of really talented wings in 2018 6’4 Braylon Chaisson (Carencro), 6’5 Travonte Sam (David Thibodaux) and 6’6 Seneca Knight (Northside). 6’7 2017 F Tyquan Marshall is also a guy that has been picking up last minute JUCO interest as of late.
United Dynasty Fab48 Gold Division (Las Vegas, NV)
United Dynasty didn’t have a great week in Dallas last week, and they are hoping to bounce back this week in Vegas. They have a bunch of talented guards from around the Baton Rouge area that have all been flying under the radar as far as recruiting goes, and a successful weekend could really get some coaches eyes on them. Spencer Mays (UHigh), Eric Reed (UHigh), Cam Dumas (Episcopal), and Kelvin Murphy (Port Allen) are all guards that have small school college potential, but none have gotten a ton of college interest as of yet.
