Next Level Invitational: 2018 Sleepers
The Next Level Invitational was good opportunity to further evaluate some of the sleepers in the 2018 class out of the state of Illinois. Here we look at 10 that stood out to us!
PG Brian Conaghan (Hoops4Health)
Conaghan is a point guard from New Trier that plays with a high basketball IQ. He is crisp with his passes, moves well without the ball, and can shoot it off the catch. D3/NAIA prospect.
PF Logan Windeler (Example Sports)
Windeler is a native of Illinois, but is playing his prep season in Florida at Victory Rock Prep. He is a skilled four man that can shoot it from three and is a sneaky athlete slashing. D2 programs should be tracking him.
PF Josh Sorenson (Mercury Elite)
Like what we have seen out of this post with Mercury Elite during the spring and summer. Sorenson can score with his back to the basket and is efficient with his touches. Quality D3/NAIA prospect.
SF Ryan Kutsor (Kessel Heat)
Kutsor is a wing from Lake Zurich that brings toughness and versatility. Does a little bit of everything on the floor by shooting off the catch, quick passes, and crashes the glass. D2 prospect in our eyes.
PF Jordan Boyd (Chicago Lockdown)
Boyd is a crafty low-post four man out of St. Joseph’s. He isn’t the most athletic kid or biggest, but at 6’6” knows how to score on the block with an array of post moves. D2/high level D3 player.
SF Jalen Boyd (Chicago Lockdown)
The other Boyd is more of an athletic wing and slasher. Gets out in transition and slashes from the wings in the half court. Mid-range shooter that is streaky from three. D2 prospect.
PG Jalen Hodge (Jets-Ramey United)
Hodge sometimes flies under the radar with all the depth at the point guard position in the 2018 class. The O’Fallon lead guard is a lefty that plays with a ton of flair, pushes it in the open floor, and gets others involved. Adequate shooter. D2 player.
PF Caleb Strohmeier (Jets-Ramey United)
Good week for the Edwardsville forward. Strohmeier played with toughness in the paint, rebounded well, and used his strength to score around the rim. D2’s need to be monitoring him.
SG Zach Robinson (Tri City Thunder)
Robinson is a stocky shooting guard that can really shoot the rock. The St. Charles East wing will be a nice find for a D3/NAIA looking for a guard that can handle and shoot it.
SF Jace Link (Illinois Irish)
Link does the little things for the Irish 17U. Got the game winning bucket on an out of bounds play which was fitting as he contributed across the board with his toughness and grit in that game.
