Preseason All-Conference: Raccoon River
Player of the Year: 2019 Collin Lister, Carlisle
The junior guard scored with remarkable efficiency as a sophomore, shooting 55% from the floor. He’s the league’s leading returning scorer, and will pace a Carlisle team that returns four of their top five scorers, so expect plenty more success for Lister and the Wildcats this winter.
First Team
2019 Collin Lister, Carlisle (17.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 54.8 FG%)
The league’s leading returning scorer, this talented slashing guard shot an efficient 55% from the floor last year and contributes in nearly every facet of the game for the Wildcats.
2019 Casey Kleemeier, Winterset (15.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists)
This strong, stocky junior guard led the Huskies in scoring, assists and steals last year. Like his younger teammate Easton Darling, look for Kleemeier’s efficiency numbers to improve (40.1% last year) with an added year of varsity experience and the majority of a talented Winterset roster returning.
2020 Easton Darling, Winterset (13.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 56 3PM)
Coming off a strong freshman season, Darling was one of the state’s most productive players on the grassroots circuit over the summer. Look for his efficiency (39.5 FG% last year) to improve with added strength and confidence that comes from that great play during the summer. The gifted scoring guard is the conference’s leading returning 3-point shooter, knocking down 56 of them last season.
2018 Cooper Ross, Carroll (13.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 51 3PM)
One of the conference’s most dangerous shooters from deep, Ross knocked down 51 3-pointers last year at a 40.5% clip. With the graduations of a few longtime varsity standouts (Kolby Molinsky, Dayton Ross), look for the senior guard to become a major impact all-around scorer. He’s a threat to lead the league in scoring this winter.
2018 Rashon Ivory, Perry (10.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists)
The speedy Perry point guard will have full reign of the Blue Jays attack this winter following the graduations of Janier Puente and Kyle Nevitt. Look for the scoring numbers to skyrocket while he’s still dishing out plenty of assists.
