Louisiana 2018 “Get That Outta Here” Team (Top Rim Protectors)
Josh LeBlanc 6’6 PF Madison Prep
If you’ve never seen Josh LeBlanc block a shot, then you just haven’t seen him play, because he is good for at least one block a game no matter the competition. With his size, length, athleticism, and high motor, he has serious Draymond Green type potential going forward.
Randy Gladney 6’8 PF Deridder
Gladney is one of the top big prospects for the 2018 class because of his size and rebounding abilities. At his size, he can just put his hands straight in the air and grab a couple of blocks a game that way.
Travonte’ Sam 6’6 SF David Thibodaux
Despite being a bit undersized for this list, he is one of the top rim protectors and defenders in the state, in large part because of his 7’1 wingspan. He also has great mobility for his size and good timing for blocks.
Chandler Owenby 6’8 PF St. Paul
Owenby might be underrated when thought of as a rim protector, but he certainly has the athleticism and size to do so. If he were to put on about 15 pounds, he would be one of the top shot blockers in the state.
Semaj Matthews 6’6 PF Landry-Walker
Semaj is another player that is a bit undersized, but he can make up for it with his athleticism and natural timing when it comes to getting a piece of the ball. He also has the foot speed and mobility to guard out of the pick and roll.
Jaden Edwards 6’8 C Lafayette
Edwards is another player that isn’t supremely athletic, but at his size all he needs to do is put his hands straight up and he will affect shots. He is also more spry on his feet than you would anticipate when having to guard in the pick and roll.
