Recruitng Report: Jordan Wright (2019)
Despite battling the injury bug, this summer has been big for our 2nd ranked player in the class of 2019 in 6’5 G Jordan Wright of Dunham. He sprained his ankle back in the spring, which limited him for the first few sessions on the Under Armour Circuit for Louisiana Elite, but that hasn’t stopped the college coaches from calling.
Jordan Wright’s offer list now stands at 10, and has been growing by the day. Texas A&M, TCU, Virginia Tech, Iona, Stephen F. Austin, Southern, Grambling, Tulane, LA Tech, and UAB have all offered at this point, despite the ankle injury. “I’m looking for it to open up more in July since I’ll be at 100%,” Wright says.
“I want to go to a program with a winning culture, where I will be able to contribute as a freshman. I am also looking for a school with good academics.”
As the schools that offer continue to mount, Jordan has been continuing to do what has gotten him here in the first place: work. “I’ve been working every day this summer, at least twice a day. I want to add more midrange to my game. I don’t really score from there right now. I want to tighten my handle more and still work on my jumper. I also want to improve my conditioning, get into better shape and play stronger.”
As a 6’5 guard, he has the size and strength to be a very tough matchup, and will continue to do so at the next level. At that size, he has the vision to be able to see over the defense, and the IQ to be able to make the right play time in and time out. If the defense wants to put a smaller guard on him, he has no problem exploiting the mismatch in the post, which most younger guards aren’t very comfortable with. And the basketball court isn’t the only place Jordan excels, as he boasts a 4.3 GPA and received a 25 on the ACT.
