ECU Team Camp Standouts
James Richardson | 6’1” PG | Ayden-Grifton HS – Class of 2019
Athletic guard that scores in big bunches. Was extremely tough to contain off the dribble, forcing teams to stack zones in order to slow him down. Much improved since the end of his sophomore season. Should he remain aggressive and finishing at the rim, his recruitment will drastically pick up. Primed for a big junior year.
Shykiem Phillips | 6’2” PG | South Central HS – Class of 2019
Arguably, Phillips could be the top perimeter defender in the area. He disrupted offensive sets alone with his ball pressure. A true one man press defense. Just a rising junior, but his defensive abilities alone will make him a highly coveted recruit sooner than later. Offensively, he’s very patient, makes shots at a high percentage and has sneaky quickness. Will be a diamond in the rough in a deep NC 2019 class.
Isaiah Jones | 6’8” C | Nash Central – Class of 2018
Potential is the word here. This is a lot to like about Jones. Showed a decent inside skillset, solid hands and a willingness to mix it up. Depending on his work ethic, his best days of playing basketball are ahead of him. Has tools that you just can’t teach with his height, weight and length.
Samage Teel | 6’1” G | John Paul II – Class of 2020
Teel is one of the better shooters in the 2020 class. Whether spotting up or coming off the dribble, he can flat out shoot the basketball. Has also shown an improved handle and ability to lose defenders with a really quick around the back dribble. Should he continue to add to his offensive repertoire, he’ll develop into one of the better scoring guards in the eastern part of North Carolina.
Day’Ron Sharpe | 6’8” F | South Central – Class of 2020
We first covered Day’Ron here at PrepHoops a couple of months back. Since we last saw him, he’s gotten a lot more athletic, bigger, stronger and plays with better pace. Almost but assuredly going to be a nationally recruited big man before it’s all said and done. Excellent timing defensively, finishes over the rim and he appears to still be growing.
